TemperatureThe temperature gradient and its distribution within the
cutting zone is well recognized for severe effects on the tooland work piece material properties.
According to Shaw and Vieregge [5,6] about 90% of the cutting heat
dissipates into the chips and 5% into the workpiece and tool. Kronenberg
[7] gives 80% of the total heat as generated in the primary shear zone,18% at the rake face, and 2% at the flank face of the tool. 75% of the total
heat dissipates into the chips, 5% into the workpiece, and 20% into the
