FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
So far, we’ve sold 224 tickets to our 50/50/raffle.
Thank you for your support.
Next week, Sister Maria from Minsk will be
here to speak at all the Masses about the
Missions. The second collection will be for the

I received a link to “Humble and Kind” by Tim
McGraw. Now I know where the East Moriches
ambulance company got it. Nice song.
I also must thank you for the roof money. I
would say we’re up to about $22,000, only about
$11,500 short of the bill.

Thought For This Week
The best use of time is love;
The best expression of love is time;
The best time to love is now!
(from: The Purpose-Driven Life)
(It’s not so much the “quality” time that we’ve heard of in the past,
but the amount of time spent in the presence of our loved ones that makes the difference in our lives.)
Respect Life
Lord, we lift up to you today in prayer all those who:
are pregnant and scared;
are suffering with disabilities or life threatening diseases;
are caring for elderly loved ones;
are elderly, scared, lonely, or abandoned;
have lost a spouse, a child, a sibling, or a dear friend.
(We give all these situations to You, Lord,
knowing that You are the only one who can give that peace of mind,
that “peace that passes all understanding”.)
The Eucharist—a Prayer
The bread we receive in the Eucharist is life sustaining. We may not feel any different after receiving
Holy Communion, but we have to remember that when we have received our Savior, He can--and will--
change our lives!
Words from Pope Francis
“In the Gospel, we read the parable of the Good Samaritan, that speaks of a man assaulted by robbers and left half
dead at the side of the road. People pass by him and look at him. But they do not stop, they just continue on their
journey, indifferent to him: it is none of their business! How often we say: it’s not my problem! How often we turn
the other way and pretend not to see! Only a Samaritan, a stranger, sees him, stops, lifts him up, takes him by the
hand, and cares for him.” (Lk 10:29-35).
A Scripture to Ponder..
“Love never fails.”
(Matthew 18:19)

We are so blessed to have many young people in-
volved in the various ministries in our parish. They
have become involved in not just our Youth Ministry
group, but also serve as Catechists or assistants,
lectors, choir members and volunteers at the Peanut
Butter and Jelly Gang, our hospitalities and our sea-
sonal and special events. Our annual Vacation Bible
Camp always sees numerous teens volunteering and
our recent camp was no exception. The parents and
grandparents join me in expressing our gratitude to
the following teens who displayed such enthusiasm
throughout our week and truly created special
memories for the children who attended: Sarah
Anderson, Joy Blake, Michael Burghardt, Skylar Cox,
Charlotte Faulkner, Gianna Ferraro, Daniel Finocchi-
aro, Steven Finocchiaro, Michael Gallagher, Thomas
Gallagher, Jackie Holden, Summer Ingria, Nicolette

from entering seventh grade through recent high

A Request for Our Brothers and Sisters in Haiti
One of our parishioners, Marianne Scherl, who visits Haiti several times a year, has conveyed this most heart-
felt need for shoes for these men, women, and children in such need.
She writes: “Last Tuesday, Sharon, our pediatric nurse, and I were walking back to the clinic in Carrefour,
Haiti. In front of us was Sala, a volunteer, pushing a hand-truck with a 200 pound barrel of supplies that we had
shipped to the clinic. We both noticed his shoes. They had no backs, and the fronts were ripped. Sharon stopped him,
and because she has ‘big feet’, gave him her shoes. They fit!! Sharon walked back on the rocks to her room to get her
other pair.”
We would like to collect all sizes of sneakers, sandals, and shoes to send in a barrel to this impoverished area.
All the shoes previously sent were gone by the second day!
If you would like to donate any shoes to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti, there will be a box in the
kitchen. This will be on an ongoing basis. Our goal is 500 pairs of shoes. (If you can, please wash the shoes with de-
tergent and a small amount of bleach to help prevent fungal foot infections common to this area.)
God Bless You for Your Help!
