THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
Calling All Those Interested In Becoming Catholic!
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is a process by which non-baptized men and women enter the Catholic Church. It’s also for those adults who might have been born Catholic, but were not formally educated in the Catholic faith.
The RCIA process involves several stages marked by group study and discussion, personal prayer, and various rites that are celebrated at Mass. For those participating, it is a steady journey of personal conversion as they study the Gospel, grow their faith in Jesus Christ and their knowledge of the Catholic Church, and ultimately receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, reconciliation, and Holy Eucharist. The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the Church and was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the standard way in which adults prepare for full communion with the Church. Visit the St. Louis Archdiocese website on RCIA at http://archstl.org/becomingcatholic.
Summer is quickly drawing to a close. RCIA sessions will start in September. You can sign up now by contacting Laura Marlo at 636-346-7983. Come and see!
HOLY INFANT PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (PSR) REGISTRATION
Our Parish School of Religion will begin on Monday, September 12, 2016, for grades 1 through 8. If you have a first grader or are new to the parish or the program and have not signed up, please call the PSR Office at 636-227-0802 ext. 3 or email psroffice@holyinfantballwin.org.
Also, if your child attended PSR last year, but is not yet registered, you can still do so. We want all children to receive a good religious education and do not want finances to be the reason children are not enrolled. If this is a concern, let us know.

COOKIES FOR KAIROS
The Kairos Prison Ministry brings the message of Christ to men incarcerated at the Menard State Prison in Illinois. One of the treats we bring the men are cookies. We would appreciate any help baking cookies. The prison is very strict about what we can bring in. The types acceptable are: Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, Molasses, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate, Ginger and Sugar. Cookies should be about 2 1/2 inches wide and not more than 1/2 inch thick. Do not use icing, sugar sprinkles or any type of coating on top of the cookie. Do not add any kind of fruit or nuts to the cookies. We need 80 dozen for our meeting on October 14. Contact Jon at (314) 239-7917 or nienas@att.net for cookie recipes or questions.

23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 4, 2016
P F W N H I C #10794
“Play Football with the Knights.” It’s easy to play—each registered participant will receive a randomly drawn “Play Football with the Knights” certificate for the football season with the name of three NFC football teams. These three teams are your participating teams for the entire 17 week National Football League season and will determine whether or not you are a winner.
Each week, our committee will total the number of points that each NFC team scored during that week. (A week begins on Thursday and ends the following Wednesday.) The holder of the certificate with the three teams that scored the highest combined total number of points for each week will be awarded an amount based on the number of tickets sold. If no one has purchased that ticket, the holder of the highest points sold will win a smaller award. The holder of the certificate with the three teams that scored the fewest combined total number of points for that week will be awarded an amount determined by participation. If there is no winner, the next week’s winner will be higher. Multiple winners divide the award. You register once and you are eligible for all 17 weeks. There will be a winner every week! It’s a 50/50 payout! The cost for the entire season is $25. To register, complete the form below and return it by September 20 along with your $25 payment. Then, look for your certificate with your team names. Feel free to make copies of this form and invite your friends and family to play. It’s simple, it’s fun and you’re helping the Knights.
