Air Forest is a temporary public pavilion installed in City Park, Denver, Colorado, USA, for Dialog:City, an arts and cultural event during the Democratic National Convention 2008.
Temporary public space to be utilized in a vast array of scheduled events (such as the Yoga Health Festival, a cocktail party for the convention, a high school play, Dialog:City closing party) as well as for the general public to enjoy.
Acts as a giant device to measure site condi-tion, it sways gently with the wind.
Acts as a barometer since the installation become structurally weaker (and thus affected by the wind more) as the air pressure drops due to cooler weather or even after sunset.
// Functions
Nylon Fabric is coated with a gradient of silver dots, whose reflective surface mimics the colour of its surrounding environment as well as providing a playful dotted shadow on the people under the structure
Total of 35 columns and 14 columns contain blowers to pump air
Air Ventilator pumps air to use air as force to support whole building
Air ventilator pump in air until the certain amount that enough to support the whole building, it will stop providing air to avoid the structure being exploded.

Air forest works by using air pressure. As you can see in the diagram, air is brought into the structure via air com-pressors, and the AIR PRESSES AGAINST THE SIDES of the structure, EVENLY.
Air compressors will pumped air into the structure at each of the "columns", air pressure are easily maintained at the even rate, thus the structure wont rupture easily.
This air pressure is greater than that of
Having sand bag located at the bottom as a base will act as a load and will ensure the structure to be anchor in place.

Air forest works by using air pressure. Air compressors which show in the diagram will pumped air into the structure at each of the "columns", air pressure are easily maintained at the even rate, thus the struc-ture wont rupture easily.
This air pressure is greater than that of gravity, so the structure
The hole serve for a purpose to let incoming wind to escape partially through it than allowing it to counter the wind force entirely
The nylon sheet is also a flexible sheet compared to the rest of the nylon found on the columns. The designer purposely designed the sheet by seam-ing it with a lesser tension. The seam normally using glue or sew to stick them together.
By having that sheet with lesser tension, now it can takes on higher wind loads, without worrying it will ruptures the whole structures or lift up the whole structure.
The whole structure is anchored by the gravitational force from the sand bags / air ventilator / lightings as well as the tension from the skin surface and air force.

THERES A NYLON SHEET WITH A CENTRALIZED HOLE PLACED AMONG 6 COLUMNS. THE NYLON SHEET ACT AS A SHADING DEVICE. INSTEAD OF A FLAT SHEET, THE HOLE SERVE FOR A PURPOSE TO LET INCOMING WIND TO ESCAPE PARTIALLY THROUGH IT THAN ALLOWING IT TO COUNTER THE WIND FORCE ENTIRELY.
THE NYLON SHEET IS ALSO A FLEXIBLE SHEET COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE NYLON FOUND ON THE COLUMNS. THE DESIGNER PURPOSELY DESIGNED THE SHEET BY SEAMING IT WITH A LESSER TENSION. THE SEAM NORMALLY USING GLUE OR SEW TO STICK THEM TOGETHER.
BY HAVING A THAT SHEET WITH LESSER TENSION, NOW IT CAN TAKES ON HIGHER WIND LOADS, WITHOUT WORRYING IT WILL RUPTURES THE WHOLE STRUCURES OR LIFT UP THE WHOLE STRUCTURE.

Characteristics of Nylon: 1.Nylon has the ability to be very lustrous, semilustrous or dull. 2.Durability: it has high tenacity fibers. 3.High elongation which use to interconnect as one large piece of fabric. 4.Excellent abrasion resistance to withstand the local weather.

External Atmosphere pressure
Internal Air by air ventilator
SandVentilator
The external atmosphere pressure, as red arrows shown above is at the pressure of 101kPa. The internal pressure, as blue arrows shown which create by the air ventilators, are set at pressure > 101kPa. Since the internal pressure is bigger than outer pressure,(Internal pressure > external atmosphere pressure) cost the building to lift and withstand.
As a rule, winds from the east quad-rants and falling barometric pres-sure indicate foul weather, and winds shifting to the west quadrants indicate clearing and fair weather, but again there are exceptions and in some parts of the country these rules do not apply
A rising barometer means sunny and dry conditions, while a falling barometer means stormy and wet conditions.

// Model Making
Started out by cutting wires into strips and then moulding them to fit the shape of the structure but failed.
Then, fixing wire mesh according to structures position and tied on thick markers, changed method because aesthetically unpleasing.
Then, melting plastic to weld wire mesh together, but failed because it was very hard to control where the fire would burn without burning the mesh..
Through out the process of model making
