PROJECT AIMS

• To help people take the lead in planning & meeting their housing needs with the support of partner organisations

• To create a co-produced housing plan (strategy) for people with a learning disability in Northamptonshire

Project Funders

• The people paying for the work are the

Learning Disability Partnership Board

• The people leading the work are the ‘Finding a Place to Live Group’

Project Timescale & results

• Complete the Plan by end of Oct 2010

Things we need to produce:-

1. A Housing Plan &

2. Hold a conference (big sharing) about– The Housing Plan &– The way we shared in making it

3. Enables giving & receiving

4. Professionals & customers are equals

5. Help us find ways of valuing each other

• Consultation

• Membership of groups or committees

• Service user involvement

Co-production is:-

A very powerful tool for customer led change & supporting us to take control of our lives

in partnership with organisations

Why co-production for this plan?

• We believe in people having more control

• Fits with personalisation

• Makes the project more sustainable

• Builds customer skill & ability

• Frees the creativity of all participants

• Appointed a project co-ordinator

• Are setting up a project website

• Have contacted many organisations

• Have made contact with some people & supporters

• Seeking funding to make two films to help

• Have convened meeting of interested people

Things to do today

• Consider the proposals

• Agree our approach

• Decide on groups required & members

• Decide on our focus within the County

• Should we run project pilots in areas

• Who wants to be involved & how

The Proposals

• Set up a project steering group – joint chaired

• Create a working group or groups

• Agree a number of pilot areas to work in

• Hold a few open events on Housing needs & options

• Considers ways of valuing each other’s contribution
