Term 2 Week 8 Tuesday 12 June 2012
From the Principal
I would like to announce that Mrs Jo Blatch was the successful
candidate for the position of Assistant Principal (AP) at Orana
Heights PS which we interviewed for recently. Mrs Blatch is
currently an AP at Yeoval Central School where she has portfolio
responsibility for all academic areas in the primary school as well
as literacy and numeracy K-10. She brings a skill set which can
only enhance our school and we look forward to her
commencement in Week Two of Term Three.
With many thanks to the P & C the school now has iPods and
iPads as learning tools. Mrs Lockyer has these up and running,
no mean feat in itself! The rules and regulations surrounding
these in an educational setting, predominantly due to copy right,
needs to be seen to be believed. But, due to Mrs Lockyer’s
dedication, this has all been met and classes are using them as
tools in the learning process. Obviously they are extremely
popular with the students ensuring heightened engagement
which can only lead to improved outcomes.
We have our Lapathon on this week. I hope all children
have been busy organising sponsors. The P & C receive
the funds raised from this and have targeted technology as
the area they will support.
The Dubbo Eisteddfod is on at present and we have
students competing in a number of divisions. Good luck to
them all, we know they will do their best and enjoy the
experience.
Congratulations to our two AFL teams who were successful
at the recent gala day. They are now off to Bathurst for the
next round of the competition.
We will be holding our annual NAIDOC day activities on
Thursday 28th June. This is the last Thursday of term. As
part of this we will be running a BBQ. If anyone could assist
on this day could they give me a call please?
As indicated in notes to parents of Year 6 students an
opportunity is available for those who wish their child to
undertake the entrance exam for the opportunity extension
classes at Delroy and South campuses. There has been an
add in the paper re this. You would also have received
information from the school as to the process which needs
to be followed.

experience? Education is when you read the fine print;
experience is what you get when you don't. ” Peter Seeger

Dubbo Inc. Promotions Campaign Update for Parents
The six Dubbo public primary schools and Dubbo College are sharing with the wider community what our parents already know – that our
schools are a great choice for first-class education.
In coming weeks we will be distributing an education options brochure to households across Dubbo as well as advertising on local TV
stations Southern Cross 10, Prime and WIN.
This campaign supports the ads we have placed in the Dubbo Photo News and the radio ads currently playing on Star FM.
Our reason for advertising is to share some of the stories of our great teachers, resources and programs that ensure we provide a great
education for your children.
You can help us by extending our warm invitation for new parents to make an appointment to meet our Principal and discuss how we can
best support their child’s education.
Red Cross
Red Cross have provided the school with a red wheelie bin for donations of quality clothing, shoes, handbags, books, bric-a-brac etc. All items will be sold at the Red Cross retail shop in Macquarie St. The money raised will help to run the services Red Cross supply to the local community and overseas projects. The bin will be located close to the back car park. Pleas support a worthy charity.
