Principal’s Message Dear Parents/Carers and Friends,
Quote of the Week: “Without enough sleep we all become tall two year olds,” – Jo Jo Jensen
Sleep‐ how much does your child need? ‐ If you missed the research on sleep requirements we printed in last week’s newsle er… look again. This is a great talking point with your children, right up to the age of young adults. Get your children to look at a clock and work out if they are ge ng enough sleep. Their bodies are so busy growing, thinking, developing and trying to rejuvenate from a day’s work, sleep is not to be taken lightly. Everything works be er when sleep is right. A thought‐ enough sleep is just as important for good health as nutri on and exercise.
Trophy Cabinet ‐ At the front office the school has collected the trophies and placed them in a new cabinet where they are all on display in the one spot. Previously trophies have been on display around various parts of the school. It is lovely to see these all in one spot for our school community to appreciate. Thank you to the P&C for their part in the dona on of this specially designed cabinet. It will be well used for many years to come.
Unjus fied Absences ‐ What does this mean? If a child is away from school for a reason that is deemed preventable or not enough detail is supplied to a class teacher, the absence from school can be considered not a good enough reason for being away and missing educa on. When wri ng to a teacher either via note or the school APP, it is important to remember that details are required for an absence to be jus fied. If there is a personal ma er, this can be discussed in confidence with the class teacher or the execu ve. Every day of educa on is important and for this reason we monitor closely each student at our school.
Flagpole ‐ Thank You ‐ At the front of the school we proudly hang our flags. In the past week our flag poles have been given a new lease on life and are now looking very handsome. This was not an easy task and I would like to thank Mr Angus Radburn for using his own me and machinery to lower the pole and move it to a posi on where it could be painted. Mr Campbell then used his pain ng skills to smarten the white and again Mr Radburn returned to have the pole back in its righ ul posi on. With new ropes and fresh paint we expect the pole to last a number of years more. Apprecia on to all those involved in this project taking place. Best Wishes ‐ As some of you maybe aware Miss Prout has taken leave for the remainder of the year. We wish her well in the treatment of her breast cancer and look forward to her healthy return in 2017.
