Who are we…

Some quick facts about Ochoco!

• Approximately 383 kids, from K-5.

• Score of Satisfactory for mathematics in 06-07.

• 7.7% ELL, primarily Hispanic

• Average class size between 20-25.

• 19 FTE teachers with an average of 10 years experience, 50% with a masters degree.

What we’ve Accomplished…

Staff Posters

• Around our school you will see multiple examples of our faculty’s PD. These model to our students and parents Teachers as Learners. Math PD’s have become a regular monthly occurrence at Ochoco, and have given us some great chances for collaboration.

Student Made Posters

In each and every classroom, you will see an abundance of student work and product. These range from simple word posters to explanation posters to full billboards.

Group Based Collaborations and Activities

• In all aspects of our school we have shifted towards group based work, be it at faculty or student level.

• Collaboration, especially at the student level, is becoming more the norm than the singularity.

• Peer coaching!

Regular Team Collaboration in Multiple Curriculum Areas.

We’ve really focused on our collaborations this year. Everything from Goal Teams to Team Time, to simple planning teams utilize a higher degree of collaboration and team work.

We are especially proud of our budding Peer Coaching Program. It is still in its’ infant stages, and will be heavily refined in the coming years, but it has already proven quite insightful to our practice.

Where Are We Going?

What are our future goals?

1. To create systems of collaboration across the grade levels and within grade level teams.

2. To increase the mathematics language within our learning community.

3. To increase the ability of our students and faculty in creative problem solving and conceptual math knowledge.

4. To expand our inclusion to the community level.

5. To increase our students mathematics scores.!

Sustaining Our Existing Achievements

1. Maintain a regular monthly PD schedule for mathematics.

2. Maintaining and developing our Peer Coaching Program to include regular formal and informal opportunities.

3. Implement a family based math night, similar in composition to AR night.
