Tom Schlesinger-GuidelliLOCAL RESTAURATEUR AND CREATOR OF ALCOVE
Alcove is Lovejoy Wharf’s highly-anticipated waterfront restaurant created by Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli.
What excites you about the neighborhood?
Tom: The neighborhood is truly a community. There have been many restaurant openings, with more to come, and the bowling alley, movie theater and grocery store will also really add to the atmosphere.
Why Lovejoy Wharf for Alcove?
Tom: The transformed wharf offers me the ability to provide the first waterfront dining option in the area, not to mention the views of the Boston Harbor and Bunker Hill Monument and the pure fresh air.
What is the best part of being a restaurateur?
Tom: Creating deep relationships with the neighborhood and community and really learning about people’s lives and becoming friends with them and integrated into their families.

WARD 8 90 N WASHINGTON ST, BOSTON
Local date spot and charming hangout for craft-cocktail lovers, industrial with hints of modernity
Mike Wyatt | DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AT BODEGA CANAL, WARD 8 AND NORTH SQUARE OYSTER
How it all started (Ward 8)
Mike: Four years ago, there really wasn’t a whole lot in the neighborhood that offered good cocktails. We wanted to do something a little more elevated, and something that would fill a void in this area, practically with these buildings going up, more residents, lots of office space.
The influences (North Square Oyster)
Mike: This is American seafood, which the area doesn’t have too much of. We do a lot of New England classics with a spin on them. We try to do a dozen different kinds of oysters, not just from the East Coast, and a little bit more down South as well. We’re able to cover a lot of variety on the menu that appeals to young professionals and neighbors in the area.
Introducing something new (Bodega Canal)
Mike: There’s no Mexican food around here and, again, we wanted to bring something new to the neighborhood and we wanted something fun. If you think of fun, casual, good for groups, good for a night out or also just for hanging after work, Mexican food is the perfect concept.

From Blank Canvas, where you can build from-scratch Chuck Taylors, to the Ink Bar, where you can personalize sneakers – the HQ and flagship store is a mecca for Converse lovers with friendly staff and limited-edition offerings.
Describe Converse and its HQ location.
Danielle: Since being at Converse, I feel like you get such a unique perspective of the city, specifically where we’re located. Having a view of the iconic Zakim, and knowing that when people drive over the two bridges they have such an amazing view of the city, Converse is a pillar of that, alongside Lovejoy Wharf. I think we really stand for the cool and industrial vibes that this new area has brought to Boston.
Tell us a neighborhood secret tip.
Danielle: I think a lot of people don’t even know that the water exists here, and that there is a place for people to come and walk. I also think that because the Converse store on the wharf is actually behind our HQ, a lot of people don’t know that it exists and it’s actually our flagship store. From a neighborhood perspective, it’s an amazing shopping experience because you’re getting all the flagship products, all the Boston specific products and exclusive items that you wouldn’t be able to get online.
