How it all started (Ward 8)

Mike: Four years ago, there really wasn’t a whole lot in the neighborhood that offered good cocktails. We wanted to do something a little more elevated, and something that would fill a void in this area, practically with these buildings going up, more residents, lots of office space.

The influences (North Square Oyster)

Mike: This is American seafood, which the area doesn’t have too much of. We do a lot of New England classics with a spin on them. We try to do a dozen different kinds of oysters, not just from the East Coast, and a little bit more down South as well. We’re able to cover a lot of variety on the menu that appeals to young professionals and neighbors in the area.

Introducing something new (Bodega Canal)

Mike: There’s no Mexican food around here and, again, we wanted to bring something new to the neighborhood and we wanted something fun. If you think of fun, casual, good for groups, good for a night out or also just for hanging after work, Mexican food is the perfect concept.
