NTTDoCoMoShowcasedAIforForecastingTaxiDemandinRealTimeBycombiningthehistoricaldataoftaxidemandwithlocationandexternaldata,suchaspopulationstaticsandweatherforecasts,NTTDoCoMo’sAIproductforecaststaxidemandinTokyo.TheprojectstartedinJune2016,andhasbeeninfieldtrialssinceDecember2016.TheAIcanpredicttaxidemandovera30-minuteperiodina500squaremeterareawithanaccuracythataveraged92.9%.NTTDoCoMoclaimsthereisa49%increaseinsalesperformancebetweenthosetaxisequippedwiththeforecastingtechnologyandthosewhichdonotmakeuseofit.
