What is marijuana ?

• Hemp plant

Includes in; Mind altering chemical, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) ..

• Most common drug which is used in USA (Samhsa, 2014 )

• It is common among the young people

• Rate of the users is increasing annually .

HOW DO PEOPLE USE İT ?

• By rolling it like a cigaratte

• By using vaporizer

• They can arrive directly to THC chemical

• In their foods,

HOW DO USERS FEEL AFTER USİNG İT ?• Euphoria

• Relaxation

• Heigtened sensory perception

Colors get more vivid

Besides euphoria and relaxation,

It causes ; • feeling of panic , anxiety ,fear and some physical feelings such as

increased heart rate , decreased ability to perform on tasks.

Is marijuana addictive ?

• Only 1 user become addicted in 11 .

• For daily using , this number increases (Hall, 2009)

• Breathing problems such as; cough, phlegm and bronchitis.• Increased heart rate• Problems with child

development during and after pregnancy

• Dry mouth or Thirst• The munchies

(feelings of hunger)• Red eyes

MENTAL EFFECTS

• Temporary hallucinations• Temporary paranoia• Worsening symtoms in patients

with schizophrenia

• Depression• Anxiety• Suicidal thoughts among teens

- Scientists grow Marijuana in order to make the CBD in oil form.- Less desireable - Not intoxicating

Two chemicals that Marijuana contains:

THC (Tetra Hydro Cannabinol)

• Increases appetite• Decreases nasua, pain,

inflammation (swelling and redness),muscle control problems.

CBD (Cannabidiol)• Doesn’t affect the mind or

behaviour.• Decreases pain and

inflammation (just like THC)• Also helps to control Epileptic

Seizures.

One cell culture study

• Purified extracts of marijuana can slow the growth of cancer cells.

Mice study

• Purified extracts of THC and CBD, when it is used with radiation, increase the cancer-killing effect of radiation. (Scott, 2014)
