• Containment was a good idea

• We saved South Korea from communists

• Harry Truman was U.S. President, his Truman Doctrine prevented the spread of communism

Invasion

• North Korea Invaded South Korea in June of 1950.

• They overran most of the country including the capitol of Seoul.

• The North had Russian made T-34 Tanks

• A communist Korea would threaten Japan

• A democratic Korea would threaten Communist China

• South Korea is an important trading partner for the United States

• United States and Russia agreed to jointly occupy at the end of WWII

• The Truman Doctrine was good

• Japan, China, South Korea and the United States must work together to resolve

the problem of two Koreas
