INTRODUCTION
Through this short semester program, I have applied my internship in one of the
architecture firm in SS15, Subang Jaya which is Akitek Akiprima. I have chosen this firm due
to its high experience in architecture region which it established in 1980. This company have
few branches which are from Penang, Vietnam and Subang Jaya. The architects here are
majority have higher experience in the region especially Ar. Ray Cheah, the founder of the
Akitek Akiprima coming with Ar.Cheah Kah Lip from Subang Branch and Ar. Kathy from
Penang branch. I will be learning the working system of the firm under the supervisor which
is Mr. Azmi, the Head of Technical Department. 10 weeks of internship will be started in this
firm which made me excited and happy to get new experience

PROJECT NAME PROPOSED CONDOMINIUM (DVQ)
LOCATION MUKIM BENTONG, PAHANG

In the beginning of the internships, I have get involved in the task of hatching the
drawings that need to be submitted to the authority for the second times. That’s the first
time I read an official drawings for the authority which made me to be fresh in the company.
The project is a service condominium that located in the Bentong, Pahang where there is a
lot of facilities including shopping mall at the bottom and it took around few years to
develop from a schematic drawing to a construction stage.
I had hatched the circulation plan, elevations and section drawings according to the
materials of the building to allow the authority understand on the materials that going to be
used during further construction. In this company, there is a system of using the standard
format and layer colours for every drawing so every staff would not be messed up with each
other works. I have been briefed on the procedure of the working system during the first
day of the internship from my supervisor. Each of the project is named as a shortcut code so
it could easier to search in the system based on the alphabets. I have taught by staff about
the software used which known as Cadian but it is quite similar with AutoCad software
actually. From the colouring, we also need to put the legends and specification of materials
before submission to authority. My supervisor also taught me about some technical
knowledge based on the drawings such as the thickness of concrete for different purpose of
levels in the condominium and others.
Through the first week of internship, it made me understand the differences
between the experiences during studying and working period. Working in a company would
be more systematic on the guideline on each stage to complete a building and it would
gained more technical-based knowledge which could help me in further study especially
during assignment time.

This project is given task on involving in the site inspection under staff guidance. This
is considered the last stage on construction where the building is done and need to be
further detailed inspection on the interior space. The site is located in Nilai which known as
Mesahill, a service apartment with a lot of facilities. I have briefed by the staff on the task of
inspection where we need to check the defects on each units from each level. The main
target of the building is for the college students as Manipal University is located just next to
it. There should be four towers at the site but only two towers are completely built which
have 22 levels and each level have 32 units. The service apartment is starting from level 6
while lower than that are parking lots and shopping mall.
I have given some checklists sheet for each unit to inspect. Before we start to
inspect, we decided to wear safety helmets and boots for your safety precautions. There
have several units which are different in spacing arrangement that need to be concerned
more. I need to record down the defects that happened according to the spaces located
while taking photos as evidences for easier to seek during the renovation. Due to the
numerous units, it took a very long period to be done even till end of the internship for
another inspection again after first renovation. Basically, I decided to write a report
according to unit by unit which attached with the photos taken after the site inspection
done. The report was then sent to the contractors to look forward about the imperfections
of unit. I had also went to the authority in Nilai which is MPN for updating the drawings with
the specialists.
I have learnt from observing the building construction from different stages and it
made me understand that site inspection is not easy due to the hotness for moving around
to check whether the building is perfect which in the need of working cooperatively with the
contactors on site. It is considered a good experience of attaching to the site visit while
communicate with the professional people.

PROJECT NAME PROPOSED MASTER PLAN (DXD)
LOCATION JALAN NIPAH AMPANG
WEEK WEEK 7
In this project, I have given task on doing the lift lobby detailing for tender
submission. This project is also an apartment that designed based on limited space area on a
single unit but in the need from client to involve all different purpose of interior spaces. The
pathway to enter different spaces in the unit is quite tight compared to a standard pathway.
The main target of the project is to allow more people to live in a small unit but involving all
the specific spaces needed.
I have been briefed on referring from the plans drawing to draw the detailed plan
and section on the lift lobby which is starting from lower ground plan to the top floor plan. It
is around 48 levels of whole building. I tried to look forward each of the floor plan drawings
and coming out with more specific lift lobby detailed drawings. The detailed drawing need
to be drawn with respective layers and hatched according to the materials used.
Specifications, dimensions and gridline need to be added for further understanding to
others.
Overall, I have learnt that detailing of specific space is important for stage of
construction so the specified contractors could understand on the process of building
construction with detailed specification, dimensions and selected materials used. The skill of
detailing need to be more concerned so that would not have errors during construction.

Basically, this project which the design of the buildings have not fixed yet as there is
some minor problem which passed to another staff to do. So, it took a long period to be
done in hatching as the drawings were keep changing. It changed from the details of
condominium which are the type of windows and doors used, artificial exterior element,
thickness of beam and column, and void proposed to the spaces.
From this project, I have been briefed on doing the colouring on the elevations and
section for authority submission and plan drawings for BOMBA submission. Hatching of
building plan (BP) for authority and BOMBA submission is totally different as building plan
need to be overall coloured which including circulation, building structure, and materials
but BOMBA drawings only focus on the fire staircase, fire lift lobby and fire walls in between
with unit and unit. I have hatched the two elevations, one section and one BOMBA faculty
floor plan which done on time as the staff need urgently for submission. I have also helped
in folding the papers after get done with all the drawings.
Through this task, I have observed the differences of authority and BOMBA drawings
regarding their requirements, format, and specifications needed before getting approved
for further construction and it is a good knowledge gained during the internship life.

I have been giving task on plotting the drawings into A1 size and printed out for
documentation. It was around 100 above pages to print and needed to organize into several
sets for easier to look forward. From the drawings, I could observed the format drawings
that done by the staff and on how they designed on each part of the buildings. I could also
study the complete detailed drawings which can be future references. Discovering people's
work is also part of the learning that can gained a lot of technical knowledge where else
could help in further study.
PROJECT NAME RENOVATION FIRST SUBANG MALL (DYE)

WEEK WEEK 2
I have been briefed by my supervisor on folding the A1 size drawings to A4 size.
There is some specific way to fold from a bigger size to a smaller sheet. This is to allow the
people could carry easily to anywhere and professional specialist could know the drawings
without totally opened up by seeing the table content as it faced to the top of the paper
even though it had folded. It was also made the specialist to sign for the drawings easily. I
learnt that folding between A0 and A1 size into A4 sheet are totally different way after
getting taught by the staff. It could be the important part for every submission as to send to
the authority and BOMBA for references without difficulty. Learning part of the skill is much
worth even though is a little thing but could really understand the process working in an
architecture firm.

CONCLUSION
Overall, I would glad and appreciate for having my short internship in Akitek
Akiprima which is only 10 weeks. Having a working experience could made me grow up in
my life even though is just a short period. It made me become more understanding in the
course especially the role of working in an architecture firm.
I have learnt a lot which coming from the drawings that I had read and done during
the internship period. I even get comment by Ar. Ray Cheah about my work during schooling
where he think that I should tried to make it simplified than complicated. I appreciated his
comment as I know he is an experienced architect in this firm. I would like to thank my
supervisor, Mr Azmi for his patience in teaching about technical drawings which could
enhance my technical skill and it would help me during further study. Site inspection also
gained the most where we could observe each of the building construction that happened
on the site which in the need of working cooperatively with specialists. I could know more
on every role of character in the site in order to complete the building.
Truly, the experience when working in systematic architecture firm and during
school time are seriously different where architecture can be more abstract in University
but during work, we need to think every each logical details for construction which need to
be more concerned. It is definitely create a worth experience of internship program in my
study.
