Does a Treasurer Need to Be Bonded?
A Treasurer surety bond is a type of “guarantee” that obligates an individual to uphold her end of an agreement with your club, district or state.
As part of a treasurer's position, she agrees to operate in a manner that is honest and integral. If the treasurer violates that agreement, the bond holds her accountable for restitution and legal expenses.
For a nonprofit organization, a bonded treasurer adds assurance to a donor that her money is safe with your organization. Regardless of organizational structure, bonding the treasurer protects your groups money. If the treasurer mishandles the money in any way, the bond is a guarantee that your company will receive restitution up to the amount of the bond.
Old School is Best
When considering bonding your treasurer, Old School is best. This is part of being a
good steward of your finances.
Why “Social Media?”
Communication, Public Relations and Social Media go hand in hand!
Social Media is about using technology to keep members engaged and using it as a membership tool.
It’s not just Facebook….
But why?
Why not! It’s using everything we have available in a way that our members can use and share.
It’s more than newsletters and telephone trees.
Most importantly, most of it is FREE.
GFWC Tools…..
There are many.
Printed materials…..
Emblomatic wear.....
On line materials…...

There are currently 1,351 people that have down loaded the app. It is FREE and available for Apple and Android Phones and tablets.
It is a mini web site, but during the convention update alerts were sent to phones with meeting room changes.
Pros – Everything in One Place
Cons – Uses data if not on a wireless connection.
Social Media - FACEBOOK
The GFWC Facebook page was launched years ago, but until recently wasn’t always used to it’s fullest potential.
Currently 1 in every 13 people on earth are on Facebook
Most Facebook users have 338 plus “Friends” There are over 1.7 Billion Facebook users worldwide. That’s a great pool of GFWC prospective members!
When you post (time of day), and what you post (photo’s?) are equally as important.
89% of Nonprofits have a Facebook Page.
GFWC Currently has 7,363 followers! (We only had 5,000 before our 125th Anniversary in Memphis)

Pinterest – a place to Pin Ideas
Pinterest is the website where you have a "pin board" that allows you to post ideas that you want to remember and then share them with your friends through Facebook or other Social Media.
It’s a bulletin board where you can share ideas, recipes, craft projects, hair styles, table decorations, table favors and so much more.
Pros – Another way to share and network with your Federation Friends
Cons – You may just loose track of hours and hours of your life.
Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called "tweets". Registered users can read and post tweets, but those who are unregistered can only read them. Users access Twitter through the website interface, or mobile device app.
You can “follow” other people, groups, organizations, GFWC and our partners such as Shot@Life, Operation Smile, HOBY, Heifer International….
Think of Twitter as the news updates that stream across the bottom of a T.V. Screen.
Pros – The information is fast and direct
Cons – It is fast paced, and messags only stay “alive a short amount of time.
Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing, and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them either publicly or privately on the app, as well as through a variety of other social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr.
You snap a photo with your phone, you can add fun “filters” and upload it to an Instagram account, as well as Facebook, Twitter and most of the others.
Pros – a quick “quirky” way to share photos. It’s Free
Cons – Like all social media, remember what you post is what is there forever.
