CLINICAL ASPECTS

• Ahara matra explained in kasyapa samhith is one kudava

• Uttara vasti matra – swa prasritham ( vaginal )

Role of Raktamokshana by Jalaukavacharana and Siravedhana in the management of Vicharchika

• In this group, two sittings of Siravedhana Karma were carried out on every 15 days. Siravedhana Karma was performed by venesection at the median cubital vein. In the present study, amount of blood removed from one sitting was decided by measuring of one Anjali. Patient was told to take water in his Anjali, that water was taken in measuring glass and amount was measured. The blood to the equal quantity of the water measured by patient's Anjali was removed by venesection (Average, 63.75 ml). 15 patients were registered in this group, out of them 13 completed course of treatment

Experiment to find the anjali pramana

• In this experiment the Anjali Pramana of 30 respondents of the age group between 25 years to 30 years were recorded. Three readings of Anjali Pramana of each respondent were noted. The average value was drawn for that respondent. In this way 30 readings were taken, out of which 15 were of women & 15 were of men. The arithmetic mean of the values for men & women was obtained

• The arithmetic mean of the above 30 readings is as follows:

Gender 1Anjali expressed in milliliters

Female 100 ml Male 135 ml

CONCLUTION

• ‘Anjali’ is the term which denotes the specific quantity of the liquids. i.e. it is ‘Druvaya’ Mana. There are number of Sharira Bhava which exist in liquid state. In the classic texts of Ayurveda viz. Charaka Samhita the normal quantity of these Drava Sharira Bhava is mentioned in terms of Anjali. Now days in the epoch of globalization these Ayurvedic terminologies should also be expressed in S.I. system of units which is universal

• It is difficult to apply the statistical parameter of the present science in Ayurvedic research because of the multiplicity of the variables and needs of modification in Ayurvedic approach.
