For the design of the Wire Chair (1951), Charles and Ray Eames used the shape of the famous Fibreglass Chair. With their innovative use of humble steel wire, the Eameses created an original and groundbreaking design. The use of wire makes the chair light and transparent, producing the impression of a three-dimensional metallic drawing. The seat and base are chrome plated (special stacking version available with linking elements). Bright slim line fabric or leather cush-ions add even more comfort to these chairs.

For over 50 years the figure of a lackwooden bird stood at the heart of the Eames House, the private home of Charles and Ray Eames – evident-ly a piece of American folk art they especially appreciated and which they frequently used as an accessory in their photos.
