ORDER OF WORSHIP PRELUDE Sonata in G, 1st movt. HXVI:G1 J. Haydn THE GATHERING *PROCESSIONAL HYMN 89 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee Hymn to Joy *CALL TO WORSHIP George Gramer, Liturgist Leader: Reveal yourself to us, eternal Spirit; be visible to us as tangibly as we are visible to one another. For if you are not here, our gathering is without meaning; and if you are here and we do not recognize you, our gathering is in vain. Teach us to recognize you, that we may more ably recognize one another. May the epiphany of Christ be manifested in us so that we may manifest your presence within the world. People: In this spirit, we gather this morning in worship. Amen. WORDS OF WELCOME/ANNOUNCEMENTS Rev. Paul J. Kottke PASSING OF THE PEACE Please greet the person next to you with the words, “Peace be with you.”
The response is, “And also with you.”

Narrative Future Blog Steve Felt and David McDaniel have been giving wonderful leadership to this crucial project for the church. They have met with most of the established groups of the church [fellowship groups and committees]. They are continuing to seek the ideas and wisdom of church members who may have not had the opportunity to share. Towards this end, they have created a blog for your input:
http://narrativefutureproject.wordpress.com. Knitting or Knot, Monday, February 2, 1:30pm in Cornerstone II. All knitters or non‐knitters who enjoy
crocheting or other handiwork are welcome to attend. If you would like to learn to knit, please join us and receive instruction. Contact Jo Morgan with questions about this UMW Circle: [email protected] KIDS CANS FOR KIDS—BRING THOSE ALUMINUM CANS!
Our first can redemption for 2015 resulted in 116 pounds, worth $73.89 for aluminum cans and other miscellaneous metals. Contributors please separate the different types of metals prior to donating. We are required to have them separated to be weighed and valued individually. This relieves Sharon Sanita, our wonderful volunteer who delivers the metals, from having to do the separating ahead of time. We continue to send these funds
to the Children’s Hospital Chaplaincy to supply Bibles for patients and their families including Spanish Bibles and to supply other reading materials for their mobile interfaith book cart.
GUATEMALA MISSION TEAM MEETING ‐ The first Guatemala team meeting for the 2015 mission (November 28 to December 6) will be Saturday, January 31 from 10‐11am in Osborne Parlor. We will discuss our plans, costs, requirements, and get an initial sense of who wants to go on this wonderful overseas mission experience. If you have questions before the meeting, or if you want to go on mission, but can’t attend this meeting, please contact team leader George Gramer, 303‐993‐8502 [email protected].
Mary Nicholas Foot Care Clinic ‐ A Foot Care Clinic is provided on select Fridays from 8:30‐3:00pm by Mary D. Nicholas, RN, who is a certified foot care provider. Several members of our congregation have been clients of hers for some time. Mary offers her clinic in the
comfortable surroundings of our Bride’s Room, which provides the privacy that clients appreciate. UPark UMC does not make appointments. Rather please contact Mary directly at her cell phone #720‐837‐8370.
ATTENTION BOWLERS! The UPark UMC bowling league continues. All ability levels and all ages from 8 to 80 are welcome. We bowl Sundays at 3:30pm at AMF Broadway Bowl on South Broadway. Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekends – 2015 Glen Eyrie Conference Center, Colorado Springs, CO ~ March 20‐22, 2015
MEUM and Lutheran Marriage Encounter are hosting a Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend March 20‐22, 2015, at the Glen Eyrie Conference Center, Colorado Springs. Space is limited so we encourage couples to apply for the weekend by February 18th. Glen Eyrie is a remarkable
venue nestled in the northern end of the Garden of the Gods formation in Colorado Springs. The ME weekend will be held in the Big Horn Lodge with meals in the Glen Eyrie Castle dining room. To apply, please follow this link to
Marriage Encounter United Methodist: http://www.encounter.org Lenten Religion & Life Series based on Parker Palmer’s Five Habits of the Heart, will be held on Wednesdays, February 25 through March 25 from 7‐9pm in East Fellowship Hall. Pastor Paul will lead this series encouraging the critical value of forming community out of our diversity. Those who participated in the series last year are welcome to participate again as a way of strengthening the habits that we wish to form. If you have friends who might be interested in the Habits of the Heart, please encourage them to participate. While we will gather as a whole, we will divide into smaller groups for the essential sharing. Though attendance at all five sessions is not essential, it is encouraged. Please email Pastor Paul if you would like to participate: [email protected]. The five sessions will be:
Affirming that ‘we are all in this together’ Deep listening to the Other – ‘listening the other into speech’ Holding tension in community in life giving ways Articulating one’s own passions & deeply felt convictions Trusting that God will move us forward into wholeness and abundance
“I truly believe that this is a process which is ideal for our time. I believe that people are fundamentally tired of the caustic ‘tribalism’ which currently dominates much of our media, our politics, and our culture. This is a simple process, but one which requires practice. In essence, we will be learning the ways in which we can hold the tension of our day in ways that bless us rather than divides us. Issues are important but deeper than the issues is our common desire to live into the abundance that God desires for all God’s children.” ~ Pastor Paul
