The conflation of names of divine beings is an aspect of monotheism, i.e. an
accurate transliteration of names can better illustrate the nature of Elohim
than the traditional renderings.
In Exo dus 20 :2 the literal text is [ ] which transliteratesroughly asy'hvah ` eloheyCa. [aliy]
The word elohim [ ] differs fromthe text of verse 2 in that it has themasculine plural suffix ] ], while verse 2 has [ ], with the final kaf giving the"Ca" of the transliteration, rather than the "m" ending of the plural suffix. The
suffix [ ] can be interpreted to mea n "of you",which would give a translation of
1. "Y H WH , Elah of you", or "Y H W H your Elah",2. not "Y H W H your Elohim".3 . Alaha is the Aramaic word which is related to4 . theSemitic root of Elah or ALL AH .[ e m p h a si s ad d e d , a l i ]
