GLOBAL SEMINAR PROGRAMS: faculty-led course offerings that include a short-term study abroad opportunity during summer, winter, or spring break. Students are able to advance their own research, skill, and global perspective while connecting with international industry and organizational leaders. Monmouth faculty accompany the students abroad to enhance this exceptionally immersive and transformative academic adventure.
GLOBAL EXPERIENCE PROGRAMS: non-credit service opportunities during summer sessions, winter sessions, and spring break designed to improve underprivileged communities in Haiti, Guatemala, and other countries. What makes this program unique is the sustained impact our students have made while working alongside local community members. For close to a decade, Monmouth students have repaired and rebuilt orphanages, helped construct medical facilities and schools, and improved housing and meal programs for children while continuing to add new projects as needed.FLORENCE, ITALY

Just because you’re leaving Monmouth’s campus doesn’t mean that Monmouth is leaving you. Our departments, resources, and services form a support system that is available wherever you go. Plus, Monmouth works together with all of our partner institutions to provide a safe, educational, and life-changing experience. From academic to residential life and everything in between, you’re covered from New Jersey to overseas.
ACCOMMODATIONS Depending on the program, our students have the option to stay in a traditional residential hall, apartment, or fully vetted homestay that will match you with a host family. You may live with other Monmouth students in your program, American study abroad students from other universities, or local students for a fully immersive experience.
FINANCIAL AIDFinancial aid, academic grants, and non-athletic scholarships all travel with you. Students are encouraged to apply for outside grants as well as meet with our financial aid advisor to develop a personal financial plan.
HEALTH & SAFETYYour health and safety is our top priority both on campus and abroad. Your support system combines Monmouth’s resources with safety experts from our partnership universities, the U.S. Department of State, the Overseas Security Advisory Council and the international education community.

Our faculty help create curricula and opportunities for transformative experiences that promote interdisciplinary education, encourage global engagement, and instill a compassionate understanding of the world.
To help ease the transition process and maximize your experience, the GEO Intercultural Competence Orientation Program provides guidance and resources before, during, and after your semester abroad. The program involves pre-departure orientation, in-country check-ins, and a returnee program designed to increase intercultural competence and academic success through active mentoring, critical thinking and analysis, reflection, and discussion of the study abroad experience.
THROUGH THE GEO ACADEMIC ADVISING AND INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE PROGRAM, YOU WILL: Meet one-on-one with an advisor to determine the best program for you based on your academic, personal, and career goals
Receive support from campus faculty experts, the Financial Aid Office, Counseling and Psychological Services, career counselors, as well as many other Monmouth departments
Create an action plan to achieve your study abroad goals and meet other students who share similar objectives
Engage in small group reverse culture shock and program debrief sessions with Monmouth counselors and GEO administrators upon return
