Secretary/Bookkeeper Position
St. Joseph Parish is accepting applications for a full-time
secretary/bookkeeper. The position will be 35-40 hours per
week. Benefits are offered. We are looking for a practicing
Catholic, who can maintain parish confidentiality and is tactful,
well organized and courteous in dealings with the public and
fellow employees. Computer skills, including familiarity with
QuickBooks and Microsoft Publisher is preferred. Position will
begin this December or January 1, 2020. If interested, please
submit a resume to the parish office or Fr. David.

St. Joseph will host a women’s “Fall Retreat” on Saturday,
November 2, in the Parish Center, Our guest speaker this year
will be Sr. Marla Lang. Our topic will be “Loving the Sinner,
Acknowledging and Forgiving the Sin.” Please mark your
calendars to attend! Watch for details in the coming

Mission Appeal
This weekend Fr. Raphael Makori, who represents the Diocese
of Musoma in Tanzania, will be celebrating the Masses and will
tell us more about his ministry and work. There will be a sec-
ond collection taken to support Fr. Makori’s ministry. Our spe-
cial collection for World Missions will be held next weekend,
October 26-27.
All Souls Day
Saturday, November 2, is All Souls Day. There is a book on the
table by the parish office where you can list the names of your
deceased loved ones who will then be remembered in a spe-
cial way during the month of November.
Recycled Christmas
Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 23, for Recycled
Christmas from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Homemade lunch! Bake
sale as always! Plan to spend the day shopping for bargains
and lunching with friends. All proceeds are for the youth pro-
grams of St. Joseph and St. Ann Catholic Churches. Are there
any Christmas/winter items you want to donate? Save them
for November 16-21.
Spiritual Adoption News
We have just come to the end of our 9
th
month in our babies’
development. Let us celebrate this blessing and leave a gift
for our newborns in the bassinet which will be left next to the
Rosebud/Spiritual Adoption table in front of the blue chairs. It
is difficult to express the thanks and gratitude which we feel
for your participation in this ministry. May God bless you many
times over.
Elizabeth Ministry Meeting
The Elizabeth Ministry will be meeting this Monday, Oct. 28,
2019 at 6:00 pm in the Church Hall. Dinner will be provided

St. Joseph Book Club
There has been a change in both the time and place of our
next Book Club meeting. Book Club will be meeting on Friday
November 8, at 1:00 pm at the new conference room at Wa-
ter's Edge. The book to be discussed is The Unwinding of the
Miracle: A memoir of life, death, and everything that comes
after—by Julie Yip-Williams. The book is about a young woman
and mother who is facing her own illness and death. Newcom-
ers are welcome to attend. The book is available at the Weiss

organizing a Trunk-or-Treat event again this year. If you are
interested in representing St. Ann’s and handing out treats

Recycled Christmas is Saturday, November 23, at St. Joe’s in
Hayward. This event raises funds for the youth programs of
both parishes. If you have used Christmas items to donate,
please leave them inside the garage next to the parish
house between now and November 17. Thank you!
November is a month when we remember our deceased
loved ones in a special way. In the back of the church you’ll
find a folder. Please write the name of a person who is near
and dear to your heart and we will pray for him/her

Trunk or Treat!
Religious Ed will have bins at the entrances of the church to
collect bags of candy to donate to the community Trunk or
Treating event on Main Street on October 31. Each car is
asked to bring at least 1000 pieces of candy to distribute to
participating youth--our goal is to exceed that! Thank you for

March for Life 2020
March for Life registration is open. This year the march will be
held on January 24, 2020, in Washington, D.C. If there are any
students grades 9-12 interested in attending, please contact
Religious Ed.
Making Cord Rosaries
We are still in need of volunteers to help make cord rosaries

Scandinavian Dinner & Bake Sale at First Lutheran Church
First Lutheran Church Women are hosting their annual Scandi-
navian Dinner & Bake Sale on Friday, November 1, from 4:00
to 7:00 pm. The bake sale opens at 3:30 pm. The dinner is
held at First Lutheran Church at 10680N Main Street, Hay-
ward. The menu includes lutefisk, Swedish meatballs and all
the trimmings. Dinner tickets are $16 for adults, $6 for chil-
dren under 12 and may be purchased in advance. Children
under 5 and adults over 90 may eat for free. To purchase tick-
