Your booking fee
If you take up the offer of accommodation,your non-refundable booking fee willbecome your deposit against damage andwill be returned to you at the end of theagreement, subject to a satisfactoryaccommodation inspection.
Conditional offers: If you hold aconditional offer that you do not meet andyou therefore do not join NTU, a full refundwill be made. If you meet your offer of aplace at NTU, but decide not to take up theaccommodation offered to you or if youcancel before results day, the booking feewill not be refunded.
Unconditional offers: If you hold anunconditional offer and do not take up theaccommodation offered to you, the bookingfee will not be refunded.
Reapplying: Please be aware that youraccommodation booking is based on thecurrent course offer that you hold. If you donot attain the grades to take up yourconditional offer, your accommodation willbe cancelled and your booking fee refunded.Therefore, if you reapply to NTU throughclearing, you may need to reapply foraccommodation. Accepting your accommodation
If you have a conditional offer:
Once you receive your exam results and yourplace is confirmed, we’ll email you to ask youto log in and accept your accommodation.You’ll need to do this within seven days,otherwise your booking may be cancelled.Make sure you check your inbox and anyfilters regularly and add ntu.ac.uk to yoursafe senders list.

Cancellation Policy
By making an accommodation booking andaccepting the terms and conditions you’reentering into a legally binding agreement.Entering into any legally binding contractshouldn’t be taken lightly, and youraccommodation contract is no different. It isimportant that you fully understand theimplications of accepting an agreement with us.
Even if you leave the accommodation orindeed the University early, you’ll remainliable for payment of the specified rent forthe full term of the licence – either 44 or 51weeks.
Think carefully about whether communalstudent living is for you before accepting theterms and conditions. Bear in mind thatUniversity accommodation is likely to benoisier than home. You may transfer yourliability if a suitable student replacement foryour room is found, under agreement withStudent Accommodation Services.
To support inclusion we reserve the right towithhold certain rooms across our portfolioto meet the wide range of needs andrequirements of our student body,particularly for those that have specificaccess requirements.
Cancelling your agreement
As a new first year student, the University willpermit you to cancel your accommodationagreement without being liable for thepayment of rent provided that you*:
• do not take up the study place offered atNTU, and
• directly notify Student AccommodationServices by email that you wont bestudying at NTU, at least 21 days beforeyour contract starts.
After the specified deadline this “no-penaltycancellation” option will not be available andyou’ll be legally bound by the terms andconditions of your accommodationagreement.

University Partnerships Programme(UPP)
UPP is a national provider of universityaccommodation and is NTU’s officialresidential accommodation partner,providing residences just for our students. Inthese residences, UPP will manage youraccommodation and the University willhandle your booking, including takingpayment for your rent.
University-owned (UO)
There are a number of University-ownedresidences across our Clifton andBrackenhurst campuses. These providesimilar facilities to the UPP residences buttend to be in smaller blocks. University-owned accommodation is managed by NTUStudent Accommodation Services.

Our accommodation is designed for studentliving. You’ll have your own study bedroomwith a single bed, wardrobe, desk or worksurface, and a chair. You will also share akitchen-dining area equipped with cookers,microwaves, fridge-freezers, storage facilities,a kettle, toaster, an iron, and an ironingboard.
All you need to bring are:
• pots and pans
• crockery and cutlery
• cooking utensils
• duvet and pillows
• duvet covers, pillowcases and sheets.

Your room will be heated and you’ll have aconstant supply of hot water. Heating andlighting costs are included in your rent.

Settling in
Starting university is an exciting time, packedwith new people, places and experiences.However, it can be daunting, especially if thiswill be your first time away from home. Tohelp you settle in during your first week, wehave a dedicated Freshers’ Team who arethere to support you and help you feel athome in your new student community.
Your residence team
Each residence is covered by our WardenService and has student ResidenceAssistants, who’ll be available throughoutthe year to offer support. They’ll help createa sense of community, encourage a goodstandard of behaviour, and address anyantisocial conduct.
Your Warden is there to deal with anyemergency pastoral issues and also tomanage the University's Student Code ofBehaviour within your residence.
Residence Assistants are usually second orthird year undergraduates, or postgraduatestudents, who live in each residence. Theycan offer peer-to-peer support and willorganise social events throughout the year.
Making friends
Once you book you'll be invited to join ourFacebook group for your residence. It’s agreat way to get in touch with your soon-to-be flatmates and find out about all theactivities going on in halls.
Your security
Your security, safety and general wellbeingare important to us. Most accommodationhas CCTV cameras, electronic entry systems,intercoms, and security staff. Allaccommodation has a 24-hour staffpresence.
Eat when you want to eat
All our residences are self-catered, giving youthe freedom to eat when you want ratherthan having to organise your life around hallmealtimes.
We have Taste catering outlets on eachcampus for snacks, drinks, or a healthy hotmeal with friends. You can load money ontoyour Student Card to spend in our Tasteoutlets. Parents, friends and family can alsoload money onto your card. Visitwww.ntu.ac.uk/smartcard for more details.
Keeping it clean
In UPP residences communal areas arecleaned weekly by residence staff, but youwill need to keep your room and the sharedkitchen-dining room clean. With University-owned residences, we will make it clearthroughout this guide what level of cleaningis provided. You should also leave youraccommodation in a good condition whenyou move out in order to get your depositback.
UPP or University staff sometimes have toenter student flats and rooms to carry outessential maintenance or statutory checks.
Postgraduate and maturestudents
We welcome mature and postgraduatestudents and have separate flats set asidefor you. We also offer individual studio flats.

International students
Many international students choose to live inNTU accommodation, and all new full-timestudents are guaranteed an offer ofUniversity-allocated accommodation. Seepage 1 for details.
Contracts run throughout the academic yearand include the Christmas and Easter breaksso you can stay in your room during theseholidays. We don’t offer any temporaryaccommodation contracts.

Insurance
All our accommodation includes basicpersonal belongings insurance cover throughEndsleigh Insurance. You’ll be able to log onto www.endsleigh.co.uk/student to viewyour insurance policy. You can increase yourinsurance cover to include items like yourlaptop, mobile phone, MP3 player, and otherelectrical goods – the prices will varyaccording to the level of cover you choose.
Accessible rooms

No smoking
As it’s illegal to smoke in enclosed publicplaces, all of the residences in this guide areno smoking zones. This also applies to otherUniversity buildings.
Getting around
Most of our residences are close to theUniversity campuses or are a short walk, busjourney or tram ride away. Many residencesoffer bicycle storage spaces and there arenumerous cycle lanes on the city’s majorroads. Nottingham has an excellenttransport system and you’ll be able to buyannual or termly travel passes covering mostNottingham City Transport (NCT) services.

Cycle hire
The Ucycle Scheme gives students theopportunity to hire a good quality bike for 12months. Visit www.ntu.ac.uk/ucycle to findout more about the scheme.

Car parking
Limited parking is available on some sites,but you’ll need to buy a permit. Pleasecontact the residence manager directly fordetails of prices and how to do this. Pleasenote that no parking is available at any ofthe city centre residences. The LicenceAgreement at New Hall, Gill Street North, GillStreet South and Byron prevent you fromkeeping your car in Nottingham.
Single-sex accommodation
The majority of our accommodation ismixed gender. If you require single-sexaccommodation, you should contactStudent Accommodation Services as soon aspossible to check current availability onceyou have accepted your offer of a course.This accommodation is not available to bookvia our online system. While we are sensitiveto the needs of individual students, wecannot guarantee that this type ofaccommodation will always be available.
Private sector accommodation
Nottingham is a major student city with awide choice of private sectoraccommodation on offer.
Student Accommodation Services are hereto help you find suitable and safeaccommodation in the private sector, andmany students use this service throughouttheir time at NTU.
We run our own lettings agency, Trent Lets,offering a range of private accommodationacross the city. We inspect all our propertiesto make sure they meet our high standards,and you get the peace of mind of rentingthrough the University.
We work closely with Unipol Student Homes,a charity that works nationally to improvestandards in student housing. NTUparticipates in the Unipol Dash Code, whichrequires landlords to meet certain criteria,including the provision of gas safetycertification, electrical testing certificationand public liability insurance.
