Welcome to Nottingham Business School

Our joint Masters courses have been tremendously successful forstudents from many countries, including Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia andthe Czech Republic.

The courses are delivered by NTU and a range of partner universitiesacross Europe. We launched our first joint Masters – the MScEuropean Business and Finance – in 2005 with Brno University ofTechnology and the University of Economics in Katowice.

Since then, our collaborations have grown to offer more courses andgive you the chance to experience a truly international education. Ourpartners now also include:

• the University of World and National Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria;

• the University of Economics, Bratislava, Slovakia;

• the University of Economics, Poznań, Poland; and• the Estonian Business School in Tallinn.

All universities have a long-standing tradition of delivering high-qualityhigher education.

The courses in this brochure are built around a series of challengingmodules that focus on the major themes of development in Europeanand international business management and finance. The contentdraws on a wide range of academic research, allowing you to benefitfrom the diverse and extensive experiences of international lecturers.By studying in different languages, countries and academicenvironments, you will enjoy a unique learning experience and gainessential skills sought by multinational employers.

OverviewThis two-year course will give you the skills youneed to be a successful manager in apan-European business environment.

Jointly designed by partner universities, you canchoose to spend your first year at one of thefollowing:

• Brno University of Technology, the CzechRepublic;

Brno University of Technology, the Czech Republic

BUT is the second largest technical university in the Czech Republic, andthe second oldest university in the country, founded in 1899. It is rankedby the Financial Times among the top 500 universities in the world andoffers Bachelors, Masters and PhD courses.

Across eight faculties, the university has 1,139 full-time academic staff,with 149 professors and 798 PhD students. BUT has a strong researchportfolio: it’s home to a national aerospace research centre and co-ownsthe Brno Centre for European Studies along with the city and six Brnouniversities.

The Estonian Business School, Tallinn

Founded in 1988, the Estonian Business School is the oldest privateuniversity business school in the Baltic states, offering Bachelors,Masters and Doctoral programmes in English and Estonian.

Encouraging close interaction between the 1,500 students andteachers, the School prides itself on close links to the business world,giving students academic and practical experience.

The school can be found in the centre of Tallinn, one of thebest-preserved medieval European cities and also the 2011 EuropeanCapital of Culture.

The University of Economics, Katowice, Poland

UEK was established in 1936 and is currently ranked in the top fiveeconomic universities in Poland. Across four faculties there are nearly15,000 students and 494 academic staff.

The university is an active member of numerous internationalassociations and networks and its contribution to the economicrestructuring of the region has grown enormously in the last few years.

The professors of UEK have an active voice in matters concerningregional reforms, providing expertise on economic issues andconducting influential research.

The University of National and World Economy,Sofia, Bulgaria

UNWE celebrates its 100th birthday in 2019 and is the oldest highereconomics school in Bulgaria and South Eastern Europe. Theuniversity has about 500 highly qualified academic staff, including300 professors and associate professors.

Every year UNWE takes part in more than 150 national andinternational projects. Many of the research projects are financed bythe National Scientific Research fund. Dozens of scientific events,including many international ones, take place here each year.

Joint MSc International Finance

OverviewThis two-year course helps you turn theory intopractice, developing your skills and incorporatinginternational and multicultural perspectives. Adissertation encourages you to produce appliedresearch in an area of your interest.

Year One of the course takes place at theUniversity of Economics in Bratislava (UEB),Slovakia. It is compatible with the country’smagister or engineer degrees, which is acondition of the Slovak Ministry of Education forMasters level programmes .

The first half and last quarter of Year Two is alsospent at UEB, with the third quarter at NTU.

University of Economics, Bratislava, Slovakia

Specialising in Economics, Business and Management, UEB is the largest and most comprehensiveuniversity in these areas. It is also the largest centre of basic and applied economics research inSlovakia. In 2010 UEB celebrated its 70th anniversary and today is home to almost 12,000students. The University is a member of numerous international organisations including:

• the European University Association;

• the International Association of Universities;

• the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the European Foundation forManagement Development;

• the Consortium of International Double Degrees; and

• the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration.

The University of Economics, Poznań, PolandEstablished in 1926, the Poznań University of Economics is one of the oldest and most prestigiouseconomic universities in Poland. It specialises in the education of highly qualified managers,economic experts and administration personnel capable of operating successfully in globalbusiness.

City lifeAs a Masters student at Nottingham BusinessSchool you will experience life in a lively,cosmopolitan city situated in the heart ofEngland. Being host to two of the UK’s largestand most popular universities, Nottingham has astudent population of 60,000 which means thatthe city is geared towards meeting your needs.

Nottingham is a stimulating place to live andstudy. It is a vibrant cultural centre which boastssome of the best art galleries, theatres, museums,cinemas and live performance venues in the EastMidlands.
