Principals Report – Week 4, Term1
Safe Parking
The start of the school year is a timely reminder for our parkingprocedures at Mullaway Primary School.
We have two bus zones; one in Whitton Place, the frontentrance of our school and another on Mullaway Drive. It isillegal to park in our front bus zone from 8:00am to 9:00am and2:30pm to 3:45pm on school days. The bus zone on MullawayDrive is effectively a no parking zone all day.
We do have a Kiss and Drop zone at the north end of WhittonPlace and students being dropped off at this point need to enterthe school through our two pedestrian gateways, not via thestaff car park.
Parent and community parking is on the opposite side of themain school entrance on Whitton Place. We ask that parentswalk their children across the road, and likewise in theafternoon, parents collect their children from the school andwalk them over to their car.
The staff carpark is strictly for staff only.
We appreciate that you may at times have a number ofcommitments, be late for work or have small children with you.It is tempting to take the easy or quicker option. However, ourparking procedures are for the safety of our students. Pleaseno not be that person who causes an accident or injury for thesake of a few extra minutes or extra metres!

Meal Deal
Monday, February 10th, was our first Meal Deal day for 2020.Our students enjoyed a delicious chicken and lettuce wrap, followed by a strawberry milk (made from blended strawberriesand whole milk - nothing else added).
The purpose of our Meal Deals is to provide students with avariety of nutritional, sustainable and healthy lunch options at anaffordable price.
Thank you to our P&C and canteen volunteers who coordinatethis fabulous initiative.
Dolphin Marine Magic
Dr Duan March, the Operations Manager at Dolphin MarineRescue visited our school on Monday, February 10th, to speakto our morning assembly about the work he and his team do tosave and rehabilitate marine wildlife; such as the sea turtle.
He also received a donation from Mullaway sisters Emerald andDominique, who have raised almost $1500 in recent years forthe Dolphin Marine Rescue. Their fundraising method has beento forego birthday party presents in lieu of a monetary donation.A unique and altruistic idea!
Dr Duan is also coordinating a local sea turtle release in the nearfuture (on a Saturday) and we will keep you posted for familieswho would be interested in seeing this happen.

I would like to personally invite you to come along to theP&C and help support the students and staff as well as ourcommunity. The P&C meet the 2nd Wednesday of each monthat 5.30pm in the School Library. The next meeting will be at5.30pm on March 11th.
The P&C is not just a fundraising committee. It is also:
Over the last few years, the P&C has provided financial supportby grant applications and fundraising to enable the school toobtain lots of needed equipment and resources such as; picnictables for the children to eat and learn at, learning-circle logs, beautification of the school with gardens, air conditioning to allthe classrooms, life-saving defibrillator, medals and awards forchildren, and financial support for children competing at a statelevel - just to mention a few. We also support community plightssuch as financial support for families in need and for the legalargument funding for the Mullaway mobile tower.
All of the above require the volunteer services of our parentsand do not come together without a lot of hard work and effort. While we understand that it is not always possible for parentsto volunteer their time, the more parental support we have, thebetter our school becomes and the more successful our eventswill be. As you can see, we are a busy bunch of people who arealways appreciative of new faces and new ideas. If you wouldlike more information please do not hesitate to contact me orcome along to a meeting and see if this is for you. There is noobligation and we would love to see you there.
The P&C AGM will be held following the general meeting on11th March 2020 starting at 6.30pm. If there are anynominations for executive positions please email them [email protected] prior to the meeting.
Kind RegardsJulie MarshallPresident Mullaway P&C0409 287 855
