Outline

• National Integrated Power Project (“NIPP”) was conceived in 2004 as a fast‐track initiative to add significant new generation capacity to Nigeria’s electricity supply system.

• NIPP involves the construction of ten power plants along with the complementary electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure, as well as the infrastructure required to deliver the natural gas needed at the power plants.

• NIPP projects have been funded from the Excess Oil Account, with approximately US$8.4 billion committed.

• Projects have been constructed by reputable Nigerian and international engineering firms and overseen by independent consultants.

• All projects will be commissioned by mid 2014.

NIPP

Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (“NDPHC”) was established in 2005 to serve as the legal vehicle to contract for, hold, manage and operate the NIPP assets using private sector best practices.

Owned by three tiers of Government : Federal Government (47%) 36 State Governments (35%) 774 Local Governments (18%)

Board of Directors appointed from shareholders. Arch. Namadi Sambo, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is Chairman. 

Management comprises:  Mr James Olotu (Managing Director); Engr Louis Edozien (Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services); and Mr Anthony Muoneke (Executive Director, Finance and Administration).

NDPHC

Transmission 41 separate contracts including 102 projects. 10 330kV and 7 132kV substations.  Expansion of 36 existing substations. 5,590 MVA of 330/132kV and 3,313 MVA of 132/33kV 

transformer capacity. 2,194 km of 330kV lines and 809 km of 132kV lines.

Distribution 43 separate contracts including 297 projects. 297 33/11 kV substations with a capacity of 3,750 MVA. 25,281 25kVA and 50kVA transformers. 1,700 km of 33kV lines and 2,600 km of 11kV lines.

Gas 5 gas pipeline projects, 2 project supervision contracts. Small (<2km) gas pipelines may be included with the 

generation assets they serve.

The Alaoji plant has been developed as a CCGT project with a plant capacity of 1,131.4 MW. However it is expected that, by the handoverdate for this plant, only one of the steam turbines would have been installed and the plant will be available for commercial operation as an831.3 MW plant.

Design Capacity: 1,131.4 MW

Operation Mode: Combined cycle gas turbine plant.

Contractor: Rockson Engineering Limited.

Major Equipment: 4 x GE Frame 9E gas turbines, 4 x HRSGs with duct firing capability, 2 x steam turbines

Status: Gas turbines scheduled to be commissioned by December 2013. First steam turbine scheduled to be commissioned by May 2014. 

Alaoji Generation Co. Nigeria Ltd. – Alaoji Power Plant

Design Capacity: 507.6 MW

Operation Mode: Open cycle gas turbine plant with possibility for conversion to combined cycle.

Contractor: Marubeni West Africa Limited.

Major Equipment: 4 x GE Frame 9E gas turbines

Status: All units scheduled to be commissioned by August 2013

Benin Generation Co. Ltd. ‐ Ihovbor Power Plant

Design Capacity: 634.5 MW

Operation Mode: Open cycle gas turbine plant with possibility for conversion to combined cycle.

Contractor: Marubeni West Africa Limited.

Major Equipment: 5 x GE Frame 9E gas turbines

Status: All units scheduled to be commissioned by May 2014.

Calabar Generation Co. Ltd. ‐ Calabar Power Plant

Design Capacity: 380.7 MW

Operation Mode: Open cycle gas turbine plant with possibility for conversion to combined cycle.

Contractor: Rockson Engineering Limited.

Status: All units scheduled to be commissioned by December 2013.

Egbema Generation Co. Ltd. – Egbema Power Plant
