As a young engineer, fresh out of college, when I left for Pune

for an IT job in 2011, Iwasn’t really thinkinghard about my careerchoices. I just went withthe flow. My job was per-fect, well close to perfectand had all the comfortsof a typical MNC jobwhere I got a decent pack-age, perks and got to trav-el on business trips. Anaverage person like mewould love the life that Igot but I was not at ease. Iwasn’t being myself andthat lifestyle seemed likecopying someone else. This little discomfort inthe corner of my heartwas strong enough topush me to call it quits.

I returned to my familyin Aurangabad and tookup a job but had to suffer50% cut on my pay pack-age. Despite family’s sup-port, voices throwing neg-ative vibes existed. However, this timearound things were dif-ferent. I had a direction. I

knew what I wanted to doand that one feelinghelped me remain persist-ent. A year later, I triedhands at entrepreneur-ship. Though things didnot work out as I expectedat first and at those timesI did get disappointed. Afew months later, thingshave started to shape upprofessionally and per-sonally. I have a more sta-ble business now inrecruitments.

Meanwhile, amid allthis, my fitness was neg-lected and my health washampered, I weighed 92kgs in January. But, sincethen I have involvedmyself in running and inseveral other sports try-ing to keep my moralehigh. And now, I will berunning 21km in theLokmat AurangabadMarathon on December11 to prove myself that itis ok to take risks in lifebe it business or pushingyour fitness limits as longas you believe in yourself.I will run for myself !

■ 10,000 streetlights aredefunct in cityfor a yearLLOOKKMMAATT NNEEWWSS NNEETTWWOORRKKAURANGABAD, OCT 22

It turned out to be a second‘black’ Diwali forAurangabadians. TheAurangabad MunicipalCorporation (AMC) hasfailed to get many streetlights repaired in the pastone year.

Although the AMC hasappointed as many as 22contractors to look afterthe city’s 40,000 streetlights and is spending ahefty amount on theirrepairing, services of thecontractors are not up tothe mark and the situationis what it was a year ago. A

total of 10,000 street lightsare defunct.

The electrical section ofthe AMC is said to be pay-ing the contractors with-out any check. As a majori-ty of the contractors havepolitical backing, civic offi-cers are signing their billswithout checking theirwork, it is alleged.

About 10,000 street lightshave been out of order fornearly a year. Citizens havebeen complaining, but invain. It is also alleged thatchief of the electricaldepartment is not payingany heed to their com-plaints.

As the festival of lights isjust round the corner, it isunlikely that the authori-ties will get the defunctlights repaired. Therefore, like last year, this Diwali isgoing to be ‘dark’ for somecitizens.

BeedMCpolls: Kshirsagars look a divided house nowCC RR PPAATTEELLBEED, OCT 22

Six municipal councils in Beeddistrict are going to polls onNovember 27. Barring theNationalist Congress Party(NCP), all other political partiesface a dearth of promising can-didates.

The Beed Municipal Council(BMC) has been ruling by theKshirsagars since 1985, except atwo-year stint of Shiv Sena from1996 to 1998.

For the past 29 years, DrBharatbhushan Kshirsagar hasbeen dominating and reigningthe BMC. Even his rivals agreethat there is no challenge to DrBharatbhushan Kshirsagar.

In the election of 2011, the NCPhad made a history by winning45 of the total 46 seats, with 11 ofthem being elected unopposed.

UUnnccllee--nneepphheeww ddiissppuutteeDr Bharatbhushan Kshirsagar

wants to bring his son Dr YogeshKshirsagar in politics throughthe BMC election this time, while Sandeep Kshirsagar, who

is at present chair-man of the PublicWorks Committee inthe Zilla Parishad, wants his youngerbrother HemantKshirsagar to con-test the election.

There is a disputebetween DrB h a r a t b h u s h a nKshirsagar andSandeep Kshirsagar. SandeepRavindra Kshirsagar has chal-lenged Dr Kshirsagar and hisrebel NCP panel is contestingagainst Dr Kshirsagar NCP can-didates.

Ravindra Kshirsagar, thefather of Sandeep Kshirsagar, has issued a press statementannouncing that there will be apanel of Sandeep Kshirsagar inthe BMC election.

It is learnt that NCP supremoSharad Pawar and formerdeputy chief minister AjitPawar tried to convince both —Dr Kshirsagar and Sandeep —but in vain.

Former minister and NCP

deputy leader in the LegislativeAssembly Jaidatta Kshirsagar isin a dilemma as the Kshirsagarsare a divided house for the firsttime. So, he has been trying toconvince them but so far there isno positive outcome.

If the Kshirsagars remaindivided, it will benefit theiropponents. Jaidatta Kshirsagaris in two minds and for the pastsix months he is rarely visitingBeed. He is also in pressure fromhis house.

If party workers go to the resi-dence of the Kshirsagars onNagar Road to meet DrKshirsagar, the group ofSandeep Kshirsagar is becomingunhappy and vice versa.
