Tools included to create the
geometry
Centre point is created with coordinates: x=0; y=0; z=0 and two more
points are created with coordinates: x=12.5; y=0: z=0 and x=0; y=12.5;
z=0
Line tools to create 1D geometries Select the 3 points already created before
Tools to create surface or
2D geometries
To create a surface using curves
created before
Surface creation from a single curve is
selected and the circle is selected
Point at coordinate x=0; y=0;
z=250 is created using the point
creating tool
Tool to extrude a given 2D curve
1. The point x=0; y=0; z=0 is selected first and then point x=0; y=0;
z=250 is selected.
2. The curve that we want to extrude i.e. the circle in this case is
selected for the swept curve
Given geometry will be created with the end open
Surface is turned off in order to
see the point from where we
want to copy the surface Tool to transpose or
copy an entity
Point from where we want to copy to the point
which we the entity to be copied is selected i.e.
x=0; y=0; z=0 to x=0; y=0; z=250 in this case
Tick copy as we want the entity to be copied
and not transposed
Select the entity we want to be
copied i.e. the circular surface in this
case.
In order to be able to specify parts and see parts
individually, parts are created.
Tool used for blocking
Similarly, the OUTLET and the WALL is also selected and specified in parts.
Part name is user defined Respectively the part we want to be specified is
selected
1. Project vertices is selected
2. The whole geometry is selected for
blocking
Block is created
Edge association option 1. Select all the edges of the block
2. Associate it with the curve i.e. the circle in our case
Select PARTS again in
order to specify the fluid
Since fluid is flowing inside, the whole block is
specified as fluid and user defined name is given
Select OGRID for obtaining accurate
results around curved edges
Go to Select Block and the whole block is
selected
Select Face option is selected The face at the inlet and outlet is selected
After blocking go to edit pre mesh
parameter
The node length is user defined and in
this case 40 nodes are given Select mesh
parameters
Copy parameters is also ticked to copy to mirror edges
Node count of 40 is given for this edge
Node count of 250 is given for this edge length
Now pre mesh parameters are done.
Node count of 8 is selected for this edge
Click on Pre mesh and then compute the mesh
Select the Mesh Quality option
3x3 determinant is used for quality check
Quality of 0.7 minimum is obtained from the pre mesh
1. Right click on Pre mesh
2. Select convert to Unstruct Mesh
Finally the meshing is complete of our cylinder.
