A passion for business and innovative marketing strategy has earned Eynesbury Homestead and Golf Course the Mayoral Achievment Award at this year’s Powercor Australia City of Melton Business Excellence Awards.
Eynesbury Homestead is a beautiful well maintained historic building built in the 1870s.
It is a premier golf course, restaurant, bar, café and conference centre which specialises in weddings.
The facilities and grounds at this historical estate are immaculately kept and provides visitors with a sense of a world gone-by.
Management at Eynesbury Homestead are passionate advocates for the business, coming up with new campaigns and events to attract residents, golfers and brides from near and far.
Their packages are tailored to refl ect different target markets and budgets and they have recently established strong partnerships with industry groups to increase visitation.
Attracting guests from the region, from interstate and overseas, Eynesbury Golf and Homestead is a tournament-standard course and premier venue in Melbourne’s west, complementing the world-class tourist attractions and businesses within the City of Melton.
Many could only dream of playing golf all day but Brad Alton is living out this dream.
The 22-year-old is a trainee golf professional and has been named this year’s Apprentice of the Year in the Powercor Business Excellence Awards.
“The award means a lot to me. I’m ecstatic just to be a fi nalist and to be nominated by my colleagues and team members tells me that I’m on the right track.”
He started playing golf in Melton at the age of 10, prompting his career ambitions to become a professional golfer on the completion of his apprenticeship at Eynesbury Golf Course.
He works full time in the Eynesbury Golf Shop, dealing with people, managing co-workers, demonstrating leadership, coaching juniors and playing golf competitively.
Now in his third year, Alton will complete his apprenticeship in September and says the he has learned a lot.
“I started off in a very average role, doing odd jobs and earning my keep and over the past three years I have worked my way up in the business and grown a lot. I’ve now taken on more responsibilities in the business in an administrative role with more challenges.”
Alton is part of the coaching team at Eynesbury Golf and trains juniors and senior players. He says it’s his passion for the sport which drives him.
“I’ve got a pure love for the game and the industry. It’s a dream job to play golf and do what I love every day. My favourite part of the job is coaching and seeing players develop.”
After his apprenticeship Alton will be a full PGA member, enabling him to play professionally, coach throughout Australia and potentially run a business under the PGA logo.

A creative approach to reaching clients through social networks and proactive engagement earned Bright FACES the Best Access for all Abilities Award this year.
Bright FACES was established in 2012 and offers a multidisciplinary intervention that strives for excellence in service delivery.
Bright FACES offers multidisciplinary services and therapies for autistic children and their families.
It endeavours to provide a range of professional therapies, including Psychology, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy, that support families and individuals throughout their lifespan, while promoting a greater quality of life.
The business was established in Melton due to a lack of specialised services and affordable services.

Programs and techniques used by Bright FACES are based on the latest research and empirical evidence that support ‘Best Practice’ intervention.

provide information about services, upcoming events, and information related to work practices.
Community involvement and corporate citizenship are the backbone of Bright FACES’ commitment to local employment.
The business provides a much needed and highly professional service to the City of Melton.
The services provided by Bright FACES are unique to Melton providing specialised and affordable services to the local community.

Quality service and a customer focus were the winning factors which earned Caroline Springs Pharmacy the People’s Choice Award in the Powercor Business Excellence Awards.
Caroline Springs Pharmacy is a customer focused store, employing eleven staff, that specialises in targeted healthcare for its patients.
Staff at the pharmacy continue to provide high level customer service and goes above and beyond to assist patients to take their medications accurately and safely.
In addition to the day to day prescription based services Caroline Springs Pharmacy provides a range of other health services to its customers including free blood pressure monitoring and recording, National Diabetes Service Scheme, Medicopack Service, and the hire of medical equipment such as crutches and nebulisers.
A new innovation for the store in 2014 was the introduction of MediAdvisor, a state of the art Smartphone based application which keeps track of all of a customer’s medications.
At the click of a button, patients can view each medication and can request a new prescription to be dispensed so it is ready as soon as they walk into the pharmacy.
One of the main strengths of Caroline Springs Pharmacy is their passionate and loyal staff, many who have been employed with the pharmacy since opening nearly ten years ago.
