EXECUTIVE SERVICE CORPS OF
HOUSTON
2019 ANNUAL REPORT
Letter from the Chairman and Executive Director
2019 was the Executive Service Corps of Houston’s 35th
year in providing management consulting
services to nonprofits in the greater Houston area. The anniversary was celebrated with a luncheon on
September 19 held at the Hilton Hotel, University of Houston. We were also celebrating our 15 years of
collaboration with the U of H Bauer College of Business Management Information Systems program.
Although it was a sold out affair, the weather did not cooperate. Hurricane Imelda blustered through Houston
forcing closure of many highways. Only about 40 people showed up.
In 2019, we continued to focus on our main strengths 1) collaboration with the U of H, 2) nonprofit
start up support, 3) educational seminars and workshops and 4) projects covering the gamut of planning,
board governance, financial management, and two new areas: QuickBooks assistance and Real Estate. Total
number of projects was 72 for 46 clients.
As we are poised for our next 35 years, ESCH is committed to increasing its impact in the
community. Thank you to our donors, clients, volunteers, Board members and staff for your support.
2020 has started with ESCH closed due to the corona virus. Our consultants and staff continue to
function from home with a diminished workload. Seminars and workshops are being carried out
electronically. We will be looking at modifying our business model so that we can support the community as
the economy ramps up.

This year ESCH was privileged to honor Dr. Carl Scott and our fifteen year partnership
with the U of H Bauer School of Business MIS Program. Dr. Scott started this unique
program to give his students the opportunity to apply what they learn through service. In
today’s world, nonprofits cannot exist, much less thrive, without the use of a web
presence and automated systems. Designed to provide ESCH clients with business
solutions via the technical skills of the Management Information Systems Department,
student teams, under the supervision of faculty members and the mentorship of ESCH
consultants, work toward technology improvements to further clients’ charitable goals.
