8. Teacher's academic profile
I have PhD in Nutritional Sciences (Animal Nutrition), from
University of Nottingham. I graduated from Animal
Production at the University of Duhok in 1997. After my
B.Sc. degree I started my employment as a demonstrator
in the Animal Production practical lectures. During this
period of training I developed confidence in my delivery of
teaching in practical formats in the area of animal
production, nutrition and physiology for two years. I
completed my MSc degree in Animal nutrition at University
of Salahaddin in Erbil with grade Good in 2002. My M.Sc.
research was focused on growth, metabolism and
fattening of ruminants. Following completion of my M.Sc.
degree I began to work as assistant lecturer in Animal
production and teaching undergraduate courses (Feeds
and Feeding, Animal Nutrition) in both Agriculture and
Veterinary Medicine Colleges. As well as supervising many
seminars and agricultural projects for undergraduate
students at Animal Production Department. In 2005, I
participated in a workshop for four months in Animal
Sciences held at the American University of Beirut (AUB).
In 2010, I was accepted in Ministry of Higher Education and
Scientific Research Scholarship program from Iraq
government to complete a full time PhD at the department
of Nutritional Sciences in the School of Biosciences at the
University Of Nottingham. I began with a 17 weeks
International Academy preparatory English course at
University of Essex, then 5 weeks CELE preparatory English
course at University of Nottingham which was one of the

requirements for beginning the PhD. During this period I
developed an excellent language skills and collaboration
with other peoples and I have passed the course with high
distinction. In 2011 I began my PhD at the school of
Biosciences and I developed excellent experimental and
analytical skills. Also I gained training on all advanced and
up to date scientific equipment’s.
9. Keywords Feeds and feeding, Animal nutrition, Ruminants, cattle, sheep nutrition, dairy cattle, digestion, absorption, lambs nutrition, fattening …..etc.
10. Course overview: Animal nutrition is a broad and complex science and cannot be comprehensively
covered by a single semester or year. Therefore, the study of principles must be
emphasized. So the aims to give students the basic principles of Animal Nutrition. The
course will emphasis on the main principles of Animal Nutrition, feed quality, basic
processes of digestion, the nutrient requirements of animals and many other subjects.
Students will be able to understand the basic processes and terms used in ruminant
nutrition. Students will learn to identify and describe the various types of digestive
systems in animals. As well as understand the basic principles of rationing for animals
(Balancing ration). During the study, students will to be able assess feed quality from feed
labels and feed analysis both in theory and practice. Laboratory practical lectures
especially in feed analysis and digestion trails. In addition, during the course there will be
farm trips to different farm animals in Duhok province. There will also be an effective
move towards student skills development in many subjects and activities that will be
positive impact on both university and community.
11. Course objective: Students will be able to:
Describe the various types of digestive systems in animals.
Make standard feeding in different physiological status of animals.
Manage the animal’s farm.
Learn the effects of nutrition on animal health.
Understand the nutrient requirements of animals, especially the energy and protein.

12. Student's obligation Student commitment and interest in lectures and non-absence.
Students will be distributed in the form of groups to take advantages of their
opinions and information and exchange knowledge among everyone.
Students will be assessed individually and within the groups during the lectures.
Students will be obligated to participate in activities, presentations, reports, and
tasks individually and in groups.
Mutual respect between the student and the lecturer and between the students
themselves.
13. Forms of teaching
Laptop, data show, PowerPoint, whiteboard, Video sections, laboratory.
Participating students to speak and discuss.
Participating students in group and individual activities and tasks, presentations,
and writing reports.
PowerPoint file with reading list will be printed and given to students.
