ANALYSIS OF EXISTING DIGI PAK(PRINT SCREENED FROM RESEARCH)

ANALYSIS OF DIGI-PAKCharacterMy digipak only features one character– Livi Fox herself. She is shown as a close up shot of her face on the front of the album, with striking, bold pink balloons behind her. The rest of the image is black and white demonstrating the album is about the artist past love life. She is shown with her eyes closed, not making eye contact with the camera/audience suggesting shyness and innocence. Even though Livi Fox has still created a CD for the pop genre, she has gone against conventions to create a purer mage that reflects the more innocent side to the love theme rather than the stereotypical objectivity of women and sexual side of love.

StyleThe font is serif and girly, it creates an informal sense and this is primarily due to the colours. The close up shot on the front cover allows the audience to have a clear view of Livi Fox and adds more volume to the cover. The style of the artist and her music is shown through the colours and general feel of the digipak, the two CDs in the pack have been created using a picture of balloons making the idea fun and interesting and makes it appeal to the younger target audience.

NarrativeThe narrative event on the cd digipak shows Livi Fox to be stood with eyes closed and pink balloons behind her, its not clear whether or not this is positive or negative however due to pink balloons, it looks positive. The album name ‘Lips are movin’ counteracts with the image as the artist has her lips shut therefore it allows the audience to explore who has their lips moving.

SettingThe back of the cd digipak is a carry on from the disks, the image has been duplicated from disk 2 as the theme of pink balloons is carried on. The costume and makeup within Mise-en scene is very feminism, she has smooth looking face and almost looks spotless. The usage of balloons helps build continuity from my music video to the physical products itself.

IconographyBalloons are ironically used within my digipak, featuring on the front cover as well as on the CD art. The symbolism of the balloons connotes celebration and relates to the pop genre of the album as ironically balloons pop. The use of pink colour conotates Playfulness and romance which relates to the track title ‘Lips are Movin’ as the song is about the artist boyfriend cheating on her but she knows about it therefore there is playfulness in the relationship and also a relationship involve romance.

MY DIGIPAK VS EXISTING DIGIPAK

FOR MY FRONT COVER ON MY DIGIPAK I HAVE INCLUDED THE NAME OF THE ARTIST ‘LIVI FOX’ AT THE TOP AND CENTRAL AND THEN THE ALBUM NAME ‘LIPS ARE MOVIN’ S PLACED OPPOSITE AT THE BOTTOM, DOING THIS

CONFORMS TO THE POP GENRE AS EXISTING POP DIGIPAKS HAVE THESE CONVENTIONS LIKE RIHANNA’S ‘LOUD’ ALBUM. ALSO THE IMAGE USED ON THE BOTH OF THE FRONT COVERS SHOWS BOTH OF THE ARTISTS WITH THEIR EYES CLOSED THEREFOR BY MY ARTIST DOING THIS AND HAVING ONE SIMILAR SHOWS THAT IS LINKS

AND CONVEYS TO THE POP GENRE.

MY DIGIPAK VS EXISTING DIGIPAK

FOR MY DISK I DECIDED TO USE THE SAME IMAGE HOWEVER JUST ADAPT THE COLOURS SO THAT THE AUDIENCE WHERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE DIFFERENCE OF ‘DISK 1’ AND ‘DISK 2’. ALSO USING THE SAME

IMAGE HELPS THE DIGI PAK CONFORM TO THE POP GENRE AS EXISTING ARTIST LIKE RIHANNA USES THE SAME IMAGE ON HER DISK FOR THE ALBUM ‘LOUD’ BUT SHE JUST LEAVES THE IMAGES THE SAME. BUT ME ADAPTING

THE COLOURS SHOWS I CARE ABOUT MY AUDIENCE’S NEEDS.

MY DIGIPAK VS EXISTING DIGIPAK

For the back cover of my digipak I have included an image of balloons which convey to my music video and I also have my text placed centralised in the middle in bright bold yellow text, However

looking at other existing back covers like Rihanna’s ‘LOUD’ album the text is not centralised and often includes an image of the artist featured on the back cover. So as my back cover does not conform to other back covers shows that I’ve gone against the conventions, this shows that the artist has some

rebellious side to her and perhaps her songs show this within the album.

ANALYSIS OF EXISTING POSTERS(PRINT SCREENED FROM RESEARCH)

ANALYSIS OF ADVERTISING POSTER

Livi Fox advertising poster uses balloons in the background, but just like her digipak they are brightly coloured and they symbolise to the pop genre. The balloons link to Livi Fox and her existing music video ‘lips are movin’ making their be a link between her products and also helps build a character profile for herself. The bright colours attract attention and add an element of fun.

The poster goes against conventions as it doesn’t use sexuality to appeal to fans, whether they be teenagers or older people. T simply shows another side to the artist which is sweet and innocent and also the use of pink colour conveys with the shyness of the artist.

Within the poster we have a star rating from Billboard magazine therefore expressing to the audience that this album is worth getting if has been rated in the first place by Billboard. Also included on the poster is an ITunes logo expressing where the audience can purchase the album. A Facebook and twitter logo is included also with the artist account name alongside therefore expressing that Livi Fox wants to engage with her audience as this is the modern way for artist to interact with their fans.

The image used is a medium long shot which is a convention for advertising posters therefore Livi does conform to some Pop conventions. The image is black and white just like used on her digipak therefore showing continuity through the artist products.

MY ADVERTISING POSTER VS EXISTING POSTERS

FOR MY POSTER I HAVE USED A LONG SHOT OF MY ARTIST AND THEN HAD HER HOLDING THE PROPS OF BALLOONS WHICH IS REPEATEDLY USED IN MY MUSIC VIDEO DOING THIS HELPS LINK THE PRODUCTS AS WELL AS CONFORMING

TO THE POP GENRE. THIS IS ALSO DONE IN EXISTING PRODUCTS LIKE KATY PERRY ‘ONE OF THE BOYS’ ALBUM POSTER AS THE SAME TYPE OF IMAGE IS USED AND THE SETTING AND MISE-EN-SCENE LINKS TO HER ALBUM

COVER. THEREFORE ME MAKING LINKS THROUGHOUT MY PRODUCTS SHOWS I CAN CONVEY TO THE POP GENRE.

DOES YOUR PRODUCTS CONFORM TO YOUR GENRE?

AFTER ANALYSING MY MUSIC VIDEO, DIGIPAK AND MY ADVERTISING POSTER AND ALSO COMPARING THEM TO EXISTING PRODUCTS I BELIEVE MY PRODUCTS DO CONFORM TO THE POP GENRE. MY MUSIC VIDEO CONFORMS AS

IT FOLLOWS THE CONVENTIONS OF FAST EDITING MULTIPLE USE OF BRIGHT COLOURS AND DIFFERENT OUTFIT CHANGES. MY DIGIPAK CONFORMS AS IT FOLLOWS THE CONVENTIONS OF BRIGHT COLOURS USED ALSO THE MISE-EN SCENE OF THE BALLOONS CONFORM TO POP GENRE AS THE PROP PHYSICALLY POPS. MY POSTER CONFORMS TO POP GENRE AS THE CAMERA ANGLE OF THE IMAGE IS USED THROUGHOUT MOST POP ADVERTISING POSTERS ALSO

BRIGHT COLOURS HAVE BEEN USED HELPING THE AUDIENCE KNOW IT BELONGS WITHIN THE POP GENRE.
