A Christmas gift giving session will also be held for the children of the Colonia.

This volunteer workday is not just for improving the school.

Meet at the parking area of the H Street Trolley in Chula Vista, CA at 8:30 a.m. Look for Jim’s white mini van. Expect to arrive in the Colonia around 9:30 a.m., work until 3:00 p.m. We take a lunch break from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and you can expect to be back in Chula Vista around 4:00 p.m.

We need donations to pay for building materials.The suggested donation amount is $10 or more per person per workshop

Things to bring:

It’s helpful if you bring work gloves, a straw hat and/or any general tools, like a drill, hammer or sander.

Directions to El Colegio La Esperanza Take I-5 South to the Border For Insurance Pull off at Via San Ysidero for Insurance (the exit after Dairy Mart Road) Make right off the exit and you can get insurance at the drive through place behind the gas station. To get back to the border you must go past all the outlet stores From the Insurance Hut, go south at the light (Calle Primera) so the gas station is on your right and I-5 is on your left. Take Road all the way around until you come to the Las Americas outlet stores. Left at light (Camino de La Plaza) and take until you get to the light with the sign that directs you to Mexico. Make Left at this light. Follow the ramp and you will be back on the 5 at the border. Crossing the Border

Once you get to the border. Stay in your second or third lane toward the right. As you go through the border follow signs for Centro Down Town. You want to be in the right hand lane but make sure NOT TO GET OFF AT ROSARITO ENSENADA). Follow signs for Zona Rio. As you come around the bend stay to your left and you want to go through the fish tunnel then the butterfly tunnel. You will be on Zona Rio/Via Rapida Take this road for about 5 miles or so. You will pass by Costco, Home Depot, Office Depot. You want to stay in your right lane after Office Depot and get off at Circuito Reforma. Come off the exit and stay straight on this road. Pass the Burger King. You will be on Manuel J. Clouthier. Take this road for another 8 minutes or so. You will eventually come to a park on the left hand side of the road. People will be there setting up for a flea market. You are almost there. As you pass the park you will come up and over a hill a few hills.

Keep your eyes peeled. At the top of the next big hill you will be making a right. It is before the dentist office at a bus stop. You should see a sign on the light poles for El Colegio La Esperanza. Make a Right go down the hill.

The Kinder is at the bottom of the hill. To get to the high school keep going straight. You will make a right before the big hill at the end of the road. You should see a sign that points you to the school. Come up the hill. School will be on your Right. Come behind the school and park on the school property.
