The corset served women throughout fashion history to discreetly emphasize or glamorize
their femininity and beauty. This has not changed in the 20th and 21st centuries. From the
1990s, the corset became socially acceptable again. Models in the music scene and the
fashion world paved the way for its wider use. Beata Sievi was in the time 1999 till 2019 the
only corset designer in Switzerland specialized in custom-made high quality and exclusive
couture corsets. Her creations are characterized not only by an original design, but also by
precious materials, an excellent fit and perfect workmanship.
Many of the corsets are expression of the themes from literature or Beata Sievis personal
and artistic interpretation of the subject of love and seduction. The collection shows
historically inspired corsets in the great variety of silhouette as well as modern
interpretation of this garment, which can also be worn with a pair of jeans or a pantsuit. The
last creation of Beata Sievi, who is also trained psychologist, is dedicated to the “ me too”
movement, and expresses her wish to give women more sexual subjectivity. Beata Sievi
finished her artistic activity in March 2019 to devote herself to social and psychological
engagements.
The collection can be either rented for exhibition or purchased. The prizes can be discussed,
depending on the amount of the corsets to be sold. Till 9.October 2019 the whole collection
can be seen in an exhibition in Museum Spielzeug-Welten in Basel.
Beata Sievi can deliver description and the story, which belongs to every corset, as well as
photographs of high quality, corsets being displayed on the mannequins as well as wormed
by models.
