∆ Arthur Ashe was the first African American person to win the U.S open and Wimbledon
∆ Ashe was a strong advocate for African American rights, fighting against Apartheid.
∆ Ashe died from AIDS in 1993 at age 50. He contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion when he got heart surgery in 1983.
