Nancy Dominis was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and met her husband, John,in Philadelphia on July 4th, 52 years ago. They were married in Horseheads, NewYork. They have three sons, two living close by and one in Finland (miss him a lot). They have six grandgirls and one grandson to Grampa’s delight! Nancy and Johnmoved to Cedarlake two years ago with Rudi, their pitbull cross, who passed away, sadly, three weeks after their arrival. Nancy really would like another dog, but John isagainst the early morning walks. He bought her a Bonsai (small Japanese tree) to carefor and greet each morning. Nancy studied archaeology but was sidetracked by a3½ year move to Amsterdam and Antwerp, and had two sons born in Holland. Shewas a stay-at-home mom for her three boys and moved wherever her husband’sengineering career took the family. As the boys grew, Nancy became a bookseller, first owning a Book Rack and then working for B. Dalton. They moved to Holland,Belgium, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Tower Lakes, Illinois, Memphis, Tennessee, andlastly to Ottawa, Illinois near their oldest son and family, after retiring. Nancy canspeak some French, Dutch, and Croatian (John’s family). At Cedarlake, Nancy lovesto create miniatures, house boxes and “stand alones.” She is an avid reader and raidsthe library here often. She keeps Judi at the Plainfield Library very busy! Crafts, puzzles, and adult coloring activities are some of her favorite pastimes. She is amusician in the Hand Bell Choir and calls herself a “Ding-a-Ling” lady. Her motto is“Don’t sweat the small stuff.” This has really helped her in raising three rowdy boysand having to move so often!
