Acne

Acne is one of the most common disorders that dermatologists treat.

Acne can manifest in inflammatory and non-inflammatory forms. Dermatologists assess the severity of a patient’s acne by using a grading scale. Treatment is often adjusted to the grading scale and the inflammatory condition. Acne and inflammation can be treated with active

Acnepharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), whereas moisturisers and dermaceutical ingredients (DCIs) can be used in basic skin care to nourish the skin to a better condition and prevent future inflammation.

To ensure continuous care for the acne skin, the utmost flexibility in terms of treatment combination and dosage is required when prescribing APIs, DCIs and basic skin care.

With Fagron Advanced Derma, patients are guaranteed a total solution for both tailor-made prescription compounding and basic skin care based on:

Ageing skin

Ageing of the skin is a complex biological process. Dermatologists are treating an increasing number of patients for thiscondition.

The consequence of skin ageing is characterised by degeneration of the skin, wrinkling, thinning, pigmentation, dehydration, increased sensitivity and gradual loss of skin elasticity.

Ageing skinTopical treatment with both active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and dermaceutical ingredients (DCIs) is the moste ective approach.

Treatment and preventive care for ageing skin is usually chronic. The patient must therefore experience maximum comfortduring treatment if compliance is to be forthcoming and optimal results are to be achieved.

With Fagron Advanced Derma, patients are guaranteed a total solution for both tailor-made prescription compounding and basic skin care based on:

Atopic dermatitis/eczema

Atopic dermatitis/eczema is one of the most common pathologies that dermatologists treat.

Treatment is focused on the two phases of atopic dermatitis: the exacerbation phase, marked by exacerbation of skin lesions, and the maintenance phase. During the exacerbation phase, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are required to cure the condition.

Atopic dermatitis/eczemaDuring the maintenance phase, moisturisers and dermaceutical ingredients (DCIs) keep the skin in good condition andprevent future exacerbation.

To ensure continuous care for the skin in each phase, the utmost flexibility in terms of treatment combination and dosage isrequired when prescribing APIs, DCIs and basic skin care.

Hidradenitis

Page 10: Acne Fagron Advanced Derma · Acne Tailor-made treatment of acne Treatment of acne focusses on the bacterial proliferation, skin inflammation and/or follicular hyperproliferation

Hidradenitis suppurativa

Hidradenitis suppurativa, or acne inversa, is a chronic, inflammatory skin disorder characterised by abscess and cyst formation localised to apocrine sweat gland-bearing skin, such as the armpits and inner thighs.

Abscesses are present on the skin for days to weeks and are always painful. This pain is considered the most important factor in a patient’s overall assessment of disease severity.

Hidradenitis suppurativaThere is a large unmet medical need for

hidradenitis suppurativa. Treatment of painful nodules with anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and keratolytic active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and dermaceutical ingredients (DCIs) can ease the symptoms and drastically improve a patient’s quality of life.

Success in treating this disease is based on tailored dosing with comfortable, skin-friendly vehicles.

Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is an abnormal accumulation of melanin that leads to dark spots on the skin and may worsen withageing.

This skin disorder may be caused by sun damage, inflammation and other skin injuries, including those related to acne vulgaris. People with darker Asian, Mediterranean or African skin tones are more prone to hyperpigmentation.

HyperpigmentationTopical treatment with both active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and dermaceutical ingredients (DCIs) is the most

individually.

Treatment of hyperpigmentation is usually repetitive. The patient must therefore experience maximum comfort to ensure compliance and achieve optimal results.

Hypertrophic scars and keloids

Wound healing constitutes a perfectly coordinated cascade of cellular and molecular events that interact to promote tissue repair. Scarring is a natural part of the wound healing process, and every wound results in some degree of scarring. Excessive scarring can form as a result of aberrations of physiologic wound healing.

Hypertrophic scars stay within the boundaries of the original lesion, whereas keloids are excessive scars that grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound. Once formed, these are hard to remove without invasive surgery. Excessive scarring can

Xerosis

Xerosis, also called dry skin, is a condition that the majority of people will experience at some stage in their lives.

Dry skin can be chronic or may arise acutely in response to changes in the environment,

exogenous and endogenous factors. Three key skin-related deficiencies play an important role in xerosis: a deficiency in natural moisturising factor (NMF), a deficiency in ceramides, the skin barrier

Xerosislipids, and a deficiency of the skin’s own moisture network.

all three deficiencies to restore skin condition using both active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and dermaceutical ingredients (DCIs). A very comfortable and hydrating topical base is the key to patient compliance in restoring and maintaining a good skin condition.
