An Inspirational Poem by Mary Shaughnessy

To Teach Is to HopeTo teach is to hopethat one day a child will know

the meaning of confidenceand be able to touch others lives.

To teach is to praythat these newly brave souls will

use their talentsto better the world,

    instead of just themselves.

To teach is to feelthat not all the hurtsof those in our care

    can be healed,

    but they can be soothed.

Letter from LoisWerent you all so proud that our chapter successfully

completed another year of our wonderful Storybook

Christmas? We especially want to recognize co-chairmen

Pat Adams, Ann Andrews, and Joy Cunningham for a job

well done. And the Midland Reporter-Telegram did a great

job of coverage with pictures on two different days following

our brunch work session. Thank you, Joy, for being a great

hostess in your beautiful library and thanks to all members for

the delicious array of brunch items.

Who would have thought that our Girls Night Out atGerardos would have to be postponed a week because of a

huge snowstorm? Were sorry that some of you were not

able to come because of the postponement, but we did have

a nice group who enjoyed dinner and fellowship together

    the following week.

Our next meeting will be at Natalie Eustaces home at 4007

    Crestgate on Monday, February 6th

    . We will have

refreshments from 6:30 to 7:00 and then will enjoy a

program about Medical Directives which will be

presented by Ron Ellison of Hospice. I know that this will be information that many of us

need to be considering and I look forward to being educated and brought up-to-date.

Natalie will be presenting information about DKGs Schools for Africa project. Our chapter

will support this project by bringing loose change to our next 3 meetings.

We look forward to hearing from our Nominations Committee about the proposed slate of

Zeta Xi officers for 2012-2014. They received enthusiastic responses.

I am so proud to be a member of such a dynamic and involved group of dedicated women

educators who work together so beautifully to make our chapter outstanding and I look

forward to seeing all of you next Monday!

Love and Laughter to all of you,

    Lois T.
