Selling your home can be difficult and a tough market this is especially so. Here are seven industry tips to assist in

making the most of your bricks and mortar.

1. Select a trusted agent, one that will market your property effectively – check out those listed in you’re local

2. Get ready. Investment in repairs can mean the difference between a quick “No” and extra time spent examining your house.

3. Be flexible with personal plans. From the time the “For Sale” sign goes up, plan in advance to be flexible about activities a home that won’t clash with inspections.

4. De-clutter. A cluttered house looks smaller. A de-cluttered house will also reduce your stress levels by simplifying the sprucing-up process.

5. Remove your pets during open house times. Not everyone likes animals.

6. Be honest. No house is perfect. Be honest about shortcomings. The buyer will trust your honesty and be more inclined to trust a decision to make a purchase.

7. Be realistic. The higher the price, the longer it will take to sell your home, especially in a difficult real estate market. Have a frank discussion with your agent about what amount you will accept below the asking price, or how long it will take to find a buyer who will meet your price.

Selling your home during a tough real estate market isn’t impossible. It simply requires pulling out all the stops and being fully informed.
