Area Catholic Community(ACC) Updates
As of July 1, 2019 our parish of St. John the Baptist and St. Joseph Parish of St. Joseph will form an ACC. Notes from the June 7, 2019 Planning Committee Meeting:
•Inspire Stewardship in both parishes. Find ways to encourage the gift of time and talent both parishes. Focus on
stewardship, explore what is working for other parishes. Consider asking and promoting: Why do you volunteer?
Why do you support the church financially? Why do you pray? Etc.
•Mass schedules: Initially, changes will not be made to either parish mass schedule. Proposals will be made to both
parish councils and trustees in July and then in the future schedule (time) changes will be made. Current sched-
ules: St. John The Baptist Masses: Saturday 5:30pm, Wednesday 8:00am and Friday 8:00am. St. Joseph Masses: Sat-
urday 5pm, Sunday 8 & 10am, Tuesday Noon, and Wednesday-Friday 8am.
•Announcing both parishes events (VBS, Greif Support, Moms Group, etc.) in both bulletins will begin, to encourage
parishioners to attend available events. Combining bulletins January 1, 2020 will be pursued.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of our Planning Committee Members: Fr. Greg, Julie Ortloff, Brian Posch or Bob Simon.
The planning Committee will meet again on July 15th.
If you would like to volunteer for any of our Liturgical Ministries on Faith Formation Sundays be-ginning this fall, please notify Julie in the parish office. We will need Lectors, Servers, Door Greeters, Ushers, Gift Bearers, Eucharist Ministers, Sacristans and Musicians. You can specify Sunday masses only. Call, Text or email Julie; your help is needed!
Parish Happenings
Kids Corner
We have designated a table in the
hallway just for kids! Children attending
mass can find gospel puzzle sheets,
children’s envelopes, and colors or
pencils for their use.
Some wonderful examples of good deeds submitted
in recent children’s collection include: “Prayed for a friend who is sick.”
You’re Invited to Lunch Joe Town Table, a free community meal, welcomes one and all to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal on Sunday, July 21, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at the St. Joe Le-gion. Remember, kids are welcome too! Spread the word and invite others to attend. For more information, email [email protected]. Parish Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve the Joe Town Table Meal: Sign-up sheets are on the bulletin board. They also welcome the donation of a dessert to share. Might you have time to help?
Automatic Giving Automatic Online Giving is a convenient & consistent way to help St. John the Baptist Parish grow. Consider scheduling a recurring electronic contribution today. Even when circumstances prevent you from attending Mass, your contributions will continue to support St. John the Baptist. Simply go to the Parish Website: https://stjohnthebaptistparish.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/ACH-Form.pdf or call the Parish office at 320.363.2569. You may also use the form found on the bulletin board and turn into the Parish Office. I Have Called You By Name
Born into a new life in Christ and joined to our Faith Community through the waters of Baptism, we welcome two new members: Victor Lyndgaard, son of Kyhl & Marian and Brynlee Eisenschenk, daughter of Scott and Melissa, who were baptized on June 15th.

classroom helper; please notify Julie in the Parish Office.
Welcome
The community of St. John the Baptist parish extends a warm welcome to ALL worshipping with us today. We pray that something said or shared will be a source of encouragement for you on your spiritual journey.
We extend an open invitation for a return visit.
Hope For Those Who Mourn If you or a friend has experienced the loss of a loved one, you know how empty and sad life can seem. There is a grief support group which meets once a month at St. John the
Baptist Parish Center for people like yourself who are experiencing grief because of a loss. Our next meeting is Wednesday, July 24th, 9:00 am, please bring a photo of the loved one you are grieving. All are welcome. You do not have to register. Simply come. You can bring someone with you if you wish to do so. God bless you. -Sister Joyce Iten, OSB, group facilitator.

Independence Day Reflection On July 4th, throughout the United States, we cele-brate our freedom. Our rights are protected and op-portunities abound. We recognize that freedom has a cost, one we celebrate and honor on days such as this. It's good to honor those who fight for our country, who may well pay the ultimate price for the liberties we're afforded. As faithful Catholics, we rec-ognize that there is more to freedom than simply be-ing at liberty to make our lives what we want them to be. St. John Paul II reminds us: "Freedom is not just doing what we can, it is doing what we ought." We become freer within ourselves and within our rela-tionships when we choose what is right and good. This Independence Day, let's continue to pursue vir-tue and good character and encourage others to do this same. ©LPi

14th Sunday of Ordinary Time
Greetings friends,
This is my last article as your pastor. On July 1, 2019 Fr Jerome Tupa OSB will be become pastor of St. John the Baptist of College, while remain-ing pastor of Church of St. Joseph, St. Joseph, MN and Fr. Edward Vebelun OSB will become pastor of the Church of St. Benedict, Avon, MN while re-maining pastor of the parishes in Albany, St Martin and St Anthony. This re-ordering of our parishes is part of the larger diocesan plan in which the 131 parishes will be grouped in 29 Area Catholic Communities.
As of July 1, I will become a Sacramental Minister for the Albany Area Catholic Communities, joining Fr Edward Vebelun OSB and Fr Julius Beckerman in serving those parishes. My title of Sacramental Minister is a part-time position in which my main responsibility will be to celebrate mass and other pastoral duties as needed and lead adult faith formation ses-sions. I will continue to live at St. John’s but will move out of the monastery to one of the dorms this summer and become a Faculty Resident for 200 sophomores. As you can see, I will be kept busy but less meetings and more doing what I love.
It is with sadness that says goodbye to my friends in Collegeville. I feel very blessed to have been your pastor over these last 5 years. It has been a great privilege to be able to be with you in times of sorrow and cel ebration. Be assured of my continued prayers for you. Please give a warm welcome your new pastors.
May we prefer nothing whatsoever to Christ and may he bring us all to eternal life. Buen Camino. Pax, Fr. Greg
