It is widely recognised within the oil and gas industry that effective management of corrosion will contribute towards achieving the following benefits: • Statutory or corporate compliance with HSE policies • Reduction in leaks • Increased plant availability • Reduction in unplanned maintenance • Reduction in deferment costs
Key topics of discussion include: • Highlighting the roles of the key components which prolong the life cycle of ageing assets: Corrosion, inspection and maintenance • Corrosion case studies by NOCs – outlining detection and management techniques • Risk- based Inspection • Advancements in non-destructive inspection and non- intrusive inspection • Sour gas corrosion management • Discussing new developments in ICCP technology • Adopting mitigation strategies throughout operations and engineering
Chief,VP,Head,Director,Managerof: • Corrosion • Inspection • Maintenance • Reliability • Coatings • Subsea
Corrosion, the most common threat in the oil and gas industry, is almost impossible to prevent. It is, therefore, becoming more apparent that controlling the corrosion rate may be the most economical solution. The total annual cost of corrosion in the global oil and gas production industry is estimated to be US $1.372 billion, broken down into US $589 million in surface pipeline and facility costs, US $463 million annually in down hole tubing expenses, and another US $320 million in capital expenditures related to corrosion.
