How can parents and practitioners access Educational Psychology services? Request for Educational Psychology involvement can be made directly by
a practitioner (with parental agreement) if there are concerns about a child’s development.
If a child is attending a York school or nursery the Educational Psychologist is usually contacted by the school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) or Early Years SENCO, and must have parental permission.
If you have any questions please contact the Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist (Early Years), the SENCO or the Educational Psychologist for the school.
What does the Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist (Early Years) do? Manages the Specialist Early Years Support Team which includes:
The City of York Portage Service, the Specialist Early Years Teachers (SEN) and the Early Support Co-ordinator.
Provides advice on children’s development to Early Years practitioners, parents and carers and others through:
