Chairman’s introduction A warm welcome to you all, for what is the inaugural season of the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League. A lot of hard work has gone on during the winter to make the merger of the YSPL and SYSCL as smooth as possible, and I thank all those who have contributed. Although inevitably there will be teething
issues, we are sure that the decision we took to merge in November 2020 will
strengthen the game in the region over the long term.
2020 was a season like no other. This time last year, we were just starting to realise the potential impact of the pandemic on the country as a whole. The health of our community was, and always should be, our priority and our thoughts are with the families and friends of those that we have lost. However, from the cricket perspective, we were pleased to get some form of competition in the second half of the season.
We are starting 2021 under similar restrictions to those we adapted to in 2020, but with the ECB roadmap in place and a prompt start, we are all cautiously optimistic of a season more akin to what we are used to.
I would like to thank everyone connected with our League; players, volunteers, groundstaff, umpires, scorers and administrators for your continued commitment to our wonderful game. I wish you all a successful season on and off the field.

About our League
The Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League (YCSPL) was formed in November 2020 by a merger of the Yorkshire South Premier League and the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League. It is one of the four Premier Leagues in Yorkshire, that comprise the Yorkshire Cricket pyramid. League competition
The YCSPL is divided into two sections; the Premier Section and the Senior Section. The Premier Section comprises the Premier and Championship divisions; and the Senior Section comprises divisions 1 to 8. All ten divisions play a league programme of between 40- and 50-over games, mainly on Saturdays, for their divisional championships. There is promotion and relegation throughout the whole league. The winners of the Premier division go forward to represent the League in the White Rose Yorkshire Premier Leagues championships at the end of each season.
Knock-out cups
There are five knock-out cup competitions for YCSPL teams. All are based on the ECB national Royal London cup format. They are the:
• Viking Cricket Yorkshire Leagues Knock-out Cup; for Premier division teams (joint with Yorkshire Premier League North)
• ExtraCover Insurance Whitworth Cup; for Championship division teams
• Mick Savage Trophy; for divisions 1 and 2 teams
• Presidents Trophy; for divisions 3, 4 and 5 teams
• Billy Oates Cup; for divisions 6, 7 and 8 teams
T20 competitions
There are two T20 competitions in the YCSPL. The first, the T20 Blast, is for Premier division teams and feeds into the ECB national T20 cup competition; the second, the T20 Plate, is open to all other teams and feeds into the ECB national T20 Plate. Due to current Covid restrictions, the precise format of these two competitions will depend on Covid restrictions.
Important information
1 Constitution & rules. All the league rules can be found on the League’s main website at ycspl.co.uk/constitution-rules/. These include the administrative rules; playing conditions; cup rules; and all other specific policies and rules.
2 Finances. League subscriptions are £65 per team; plus YCB fees of £50 per club and £20 per team.
3 Grounds & facilities. All requirements and guidance for clubs on grounds and facilities, including Clubmark, can be found in our Grounds & Facilities criteria document that will shortly be published in the Rules & forms section of our website.
4 League disciplinary information. Information about the YCSPL disciplinary process, the disciplinary chairman and committee, and the disciplinary report form can be found at ycspl.co.uk/disciplinary-section/.
5 Scoring. Clubs are expected to provide a scorer for each game. Teams in the
Premier Section must use the Play-Cricket Scorer Pro and the Live Scores service; teams in the Senior Section are encouraged to maintain scores electronically, using Play-Cricket Scorer and Live Scores if possible. Both clubs must check that the scorecard is correctly downloaded onto Play-Cricket after the game. Queries on scoring issues should be referred to Steve Ward (Premier Section) or Lindsay Pepper (Senior Section).
6 Electronic media. The League’s policy on use of electronic media can be found at
ycspl.co.uk/constitution-rules/ and must be followed by everyone connected with the league.
7 Umpires. Umpires are appointed to games by the umpires associations’
appointments officers via whostheumpire.com. Clubs are responsible for notifying umpires of cancellations. Umpires fees are to be paid to the umpires at or before the tea interval. The fees are: Premier division & Viking Cup - £60; Championship division & Whitworth Cup - £50; Divisions 1 & 2 and Mick Savage Cup - £45; Divisions 3 to 8, Billy Oates and Presidents Trophy £40.
8 Websites. The League’s main website, which can be found at ycspl.co.uk, contains all information about the League, including its history, officials, latest news, the clubs and grounds, fixtures, the Hall of Fame, and umpires. The Play-Cricket website, which can be found at ycspl.play-cricket.com, is used for all player registration and contains match results, scorecards, and statistics.
Composite League playing conditions
1 General. These playing conditions will apply to all league games played in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League. Unless otherwise stated below, all games will be played in accordance with the Laws of the Game (2017) code), the Spirit of Cricket, and any current ECB directives.
2 Changes to these playing conditions. Either the relevant cricket committee or clubs may propose changes, which will be voted upon at the AGM by clubs in membership of the appropriate section for the following season. Clubs must notify any proposals for changes to the head of the relevant section no later than 31st August, in order to ensure that they can be properly considered and notice given to clubs.
3 Teams. All clubs shall play their strongest possible team that is eligible to play in that competition in all games. Teams must be selected in line with the Spirit of Cricket and players from a higher division must not be selected to play in a lower division team to strengthen that team. No game will start unless a minimum of seven nominated players from each side are present on the ground at the time of start.
4 Start of play
i. Premier section. Unless ground or weather conditions do not permit, all games will commence at 12.00 noon. If play has not started by 15.00 hours, an early tea should be taken at that point. An early tea can be taken at any time if both captains so agree. No game will start after 16.35.
ii. Divisions 1 & 2. Unless ground or weather conditions do not permit, games will commence at 12.00 noon.
iii. Divisions 3 to 8. Unless ground or weather conditions do not permit, games will commence at 13.00 hours.
iv. In divisions 1 to 8, if play has not started within two and a half hours of the scheduled start time, the match will be cancelled.
5 Duration of play
a. Premier Section
i. The normal duration of play will be 50 overs per side, unless reduced due to ground or weather conditions under paras 5.ii or 12 below. Any unused overs in the first innings will not be carried forward into the second innings. In order to achieve a result, both sides must have had the opportunity of batting for a minimum of 20 overs.
ii. Where bad weather is anticipated later in the day, duration of the match may be reduced, if both captains so agree before the toss is made. Both captains must agree on the new number of overs to be played, which shall not be less than 20. The provisions of rule 12 below will continue to apply, and for a result to be achieved, both sides must have had the opportunity of batting for a minimum of 20 overs.
b. Senior section
i. Unless reduced due to ground or weather conditions, the normal duration of play will be:
Divisions 1 & 2 - 50 overs per side Divisions 3 to 5 - 46 overs per side Divisions 6 to 8 - 40 overs per side
ii. Any unused overs in the first innings, whether due to a declaration or a team being bowled out, will be added to the allocated overs for the second innings.
iii. Where bad weather is anticipated later in the day, duration of the match may be reduced, if both captains so agree, before the toss is made. Both captains must agree on the new number of overs to be played, in accordance with 12 iii & iv below. The provisions of rule 12.i below will also continue to apply, and for a result to be achieved, both sides must have had the opportunity of batting for a minimum of 20 overs.
6 Toss, nomination of players and pre-match meeting
i. Toss. The toss will take place at a pre-match meeting between captains and umpires, no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled start time in the Premier Section, or between 15 and 30 minutes before the start time in the Senior Section. If a team does not provide a suitable representative for this meeting, the umpires will at their discretion award or delay the toss.
ii. Team cards. Before the toss for innings, the captain of each side must complete a team card nominating their players and give it to the umpires. This must specify the dates of birth of all players aged under 19 on the 31st August in the year before the match. Parental permission must be provided for any player in the under 12 or under 13 age groups.
iii. Pre-match meeting. At the meeting:
• the captains and umpires must agree on drinks intervals and any other issues specific to the game
• both teams will give the umpires a match ball and spares; in the Premier Section the Oxbridge Windsor ball must be used, in Divisions 1 & 2 the red Reader Sovereign ball must be used, and in Divisions 3 to 8 either the Reader Sovereign or League Special ball must be used
• the umpires will advise on behaviour standards expected in relation to the Spirit of Cricket, after which captains will be expected to advise their players accordingly
7 Practice on the day of the game. No practice will be allowed on the playing area in the five minutes before the scheduled time of start or the resumption of play after any interval. Other than at these times, practice will be allowed on the playing area on the day of the game whilst play is not in progress, except on the strip being used for the game and the two strips to either side of it. The home team should designate a cut strip on the square and an area on the outfield where the visitors can practice. Whilst play is in progress, there will be no practice on the playing area, except that a new bowler will be allowed a maximum of two practice deliveries on the outfield before bowling. The umpires have the authority to stop or not allow practice on the square if weather conditions mean it will cause damage to the surface.
8 Intervals
i. Tea. A tea interval of 30 minutes will normally be taken between innings. When tea is taken during a stoppage due to ground or weather conditions, a further 15-minute interval will be taken between the innings.
ii. Drinks. One drinks interval will normally be taken in each innings; this may be dispensed with or added to only by agreement of both captains at the pre-match meeting.
iii. Rolling the pitch. The pitch may be rolled for a maximum of seven minutes during the interval between innings. The home side must ensure that a roller is available for this purpose. No other rolling of the pitch will be permitted after the toss.
9 Designated players’ viewing areas. At all games, the home club must provide a designated separate viewing area for players and officials. This may be a balcony or separate area in front of the dressing rooms. In the Premier Section, if this area is not already part of the design of the ground, it should be roped off with appropriate signage.
10 Teas. The visiting club will pay the home club for a minimum of 11 teas, at a maximum charge of £4 per tea. In addition, the home club shall provide teas free of charge for scorers and umpires.
11 Weather conditions
i. Rain. No play will start or restart in rain.
ii. Protecting pitches. Clubs are responsible for taking all possible action to ensure that play can start and restart promptly. Action must be taken to cover the pitch and necessary surrounding areas, where necessary, whenever rain is forecast in the days immediately before the game and on the morning of the game itself.
iii. Covering the pitch. Pitches, including where possible bowlers’ run-ups and wicket-ends, should be covered during the game whenever there is a stoppage due to rain.
iv. Drying equipment. Drying equipment, including a soaking machine, forks, and materials to help dry wicket ends, must be available and used on the day of the game whenever necessary.
12 Time lost before and during the game
a. Premier Section
i. Calculating overs lost. All time lost after the scheduled start time will be aggregated. The first 30 minutes lost will be ignored. The 30 minutes allowed for tea will not count as lost playing time for the purposes of calculating the number of overs to be played, but the additional 15 minutes for the change of innings when tea is taken before the end of the first innings will be counted. Any time lost due to ground, weather or light conditions in excess of 30 minutes (except as in 12.iii below) will result in the deduction of four overs for every further complete 15 minutes lost. For example:

ii. Use of DLS. Where overs are reduced after the start of the match, the result will be determined by the DLS method. DLS version 4 is to be used in all cases.
iii. Carrying forward time saved. Where, for whatever reason, the first innings lasts for less than 3 hours 10 minutes, or a proportionately reduced time, the balance of unused time will be added to the 30 minutes that is allowed before overs are reduced in the second innings. For example, when the first innings lasts for 2 hours 30 minutes and no time has been lost, there is an unused balance of 40 minutes, which means that in the second innings, 1 hour 10 minutes will be allowed before overs are deducted as above.
b. Senior Section
i. Reducing overs. If adverse weather delays the start of a match, umpires will deduct overs on the basis of one over per side for every full seven and a half minutes’ play lost. After a match has started there can be no reduction of overs, the match will continue to its conclusion so long as the umpires consider conditions are fit to do so.
ii. Reducing overs before the start. If bad weather is forecast on the day, teams may play a reduced over match. A minimum 30 overs per side (divisions 1 & 2) or 25 overs per side (divisions 3 to 8). If captains cannot agree the umpires will decide. The umpire’s fees will remain unchanged in a reduced over game.
iii. Games with no appointed umpires. Where captains cannot agree on a reduced over match, the status quo will apply.
iv. Safeguarding. Umpires and captains must be mindful of Safeguarding guidelines when there are ground weather and light issues, or a match continues after normal finishing time.
13 Over-rates. Teams are expected to bowl a minimum of 16 overs per hour.
a. Premier Section
i. Target time. The target time for the completion of a 50-over innings is three hours 10 minutes. This target will be adjusted pro rata in the event of the scheduled number of overs in an innings being less than 50. The umpires may also at their discretion extend the target time allowed for the innings to compensate for unscheduled stoppages.
ii. Penalty runs. Penalty runs will be awarded in the event of an innings not being completed within the target time. The batting side will be awarded five penalty runs for each full over remaining to be bowled at the target time. The over in progress at this time will not count. Penalty runs awarded under this rule will be applied immediately the ball becomes dead after the target time has passed.
b. Senior Section
i. Target times. Teams must bowl their overs within the times shown below:
Divisions 1 & 2 - 3 hours and 10 minutes Divisions 3 to 5 - 2 hours and 55 minutes Divisions 6 to 8 - 2 hours and 30 minutes
ii. Adjusting target times. These target will be adjusted pro rata in the event of the scheduled number of overs in an innings being less than 50. The umpires may also at their discretion extend the target time allowed for the innings to compensate for unscheduled stoppages.
iii. Penalty runs. All sides are expected to be in a position to bowl the first ball of the last over within the allocated playing time. In the event of them failing to do so, the full quota of overs will be completed, and the batting side will be credited with five runs for every over that has not been started within the times in 13.b.i above. This will apply to both innings of the match. If the side batting second is credited with runs in this way, and this consequently takes the score to or past their victory target, then the match will be deemed to have been won by the side batting second.
iv. All penalties under this rule will be imposed immediately once the ball becomes dead. Play must not continue until the umpires and scorers are satisfied that the score is displayed on the scoreboard. If the innings is terminated before the scheduled or re-scheduled cut-off time, no over-rate penalty shall apply. If the innings is interrupted, the over-rate penalty will apply based on the re-scheduled cessation time for that innings.
14 Fielding restrictions
i. Fielding circles. Throughout the game, the fielding side shall have a minimum of six players, including the wicket keeper and bowler, inside a designated area, which is defined by two semi-circles, each with a radius of 30 yards, with their centres being the middle stumps. The ends of each semi-circle shall be joined to the other by a straight line drawn on the field on the same side of the pitch. Clubs must use white plastic discs to mark out the designated area; white lines alone are insufficient.
ii. No ball penalties. Either umpire will call and signal a ‘no ball’ at the instant of delivery if a fielder infringes this rule.
iii. Fielder leaving the field of play. If a fielder leaves the field during play, or is absent at the start of an innings, they will not incur penalty time under law 24.2 for the first 15 minutes of any absence.
iv. Leg-side fielders. In the Senior Section, no team shall field no more than five fielders on the leg-side at any time. In the event of any breach, either umpire should call and signal ‘no ball’.
15 Bowling restrictions
i. Short-pitched deliveries. No bowler may bowl more than two short-pitched deliveries in any over, irrespective of which batsman is on strike. ‘Short-pitched’ is defined as above shoulder height to the batsman when standing upright in his crease, and will be indicated as such by the bowlers’ end umpire. Any subsequent short-pitched delivery will be called a ‘no ball.’
ii. Full-pitched deliveries. Any full pitched ball (regardless of pace) which passes or would have passed above waist height of the striker standing upright at the crease shall be called a ‘no ball’. The umpire will implement the procedures set out in Law 41.7.1 to Law 41.7.6.
iii. Leg-side wides. In the Premier Section and divisions 1 and 2, umpires will apply a very strict and consistent interpretation of the law relating to leg-side wide balls. Any ball passing down the leg side of the batsman and outside the line of the leg stump, which does not come into contact with the bat or any part of the batsman’s person, will be called and signalled ‘wide ball’ regardless of any movement on the batsman’s part, other than to play a ‘reverse sweep’ or ‘switch hit.’ In the latter circumstances, the ball will not be considered a ‘wide ball’ simply because it has passed the batsman on what would have been his leg-side.
iv. Premier Section, Divisions 1 & 2. No bowler shall bowl more than one-third of the overs in an innings (fractions of an over to count as one over), with an upper limit of 15 overs.
v. Divisions 3 to 5. No bowler shall bowl more than one-third of the overs in an innings (fractions of an over to count as one over), with an upper limit of 13 overs.
vi. Divisions 6 to 8. No bowler shall bowl more than one-third of the overs in an innings (fractions of an over to count as one over), with an upper limit of 10 overs.
vii. Reductions to bowlers’ overs limits. The maximum number of overs that a bowler may bowl will be reduced pro-rata if the number of overs in the innings is reduced before the start of the innings. The maximum number of overs permitted per bowler will be as follows:

16 Scoring
i. Both clubs should check that the scorecard is correctly downloaded onto Play-Cricket after the game, and that any queries, for example,
‘unknowns’ or registration issues are promptly resolved.
ii. In the Premier Section, all teams must use the Play-Cricket Scorer Pro and the Live Scores service.
17 Results and point-scoring. The results of all games will be determined in
accordance with Law 21.2.
a. Premier Section
i. DLS operation. The DLS system will be used to determine results in the event of inclement weather. A printer must be provided by the home side to enable DLS printouts to be given to captains and umpires. The DLS par score must be displayed on the scoreboard at the end of each over in the second innings.
ii. Award of match points. Points will be awarded as follows, irrespective of whether the game has been played over 100 overs, overs are reduced, or whether the DLS method has been used:
• 12 points for the winning side
• eight points for both sides in a tied game
• four points for both sides in any game where a result cannot be achieved
• bonus points for the losing side based on their second innings performance;
▪ for scoring 90% of the total of the side batting first (four points) or 70% (two points) or
▪ for taking eight wickets (four points) or for taking six wickets (two points)
Bonus points will be awarded irrespective of whether the losing side is bowled out; in games decided by DLS the percentages will be based on the DLS par score at the conclusion of the match.
b. Senior Section. Match points will be awarded as follows, irrespective of whether a full or reduced allocation of overs has been bowled:
• nine points for a side whose opponents do not fulfil the fixture
• nine points for the side scoring most runs
• four points for each side when scores are level when the match is completed, plus any bonus points both sides have earned
• three points for both sides when a match is cancelled or abandoned – abandoned matches will also attract batting and bowling bonus points after the first innings has been completed and the following targets have been achieved in the second innings;
• the losing team batting second will receive the following;
▪ two batting bonus points for scoring at least 90% of the opponents score
▪ one batting bonus point for scoring at least 70% of the opponents score
▪ the losing team batting first will receive the following;
▪ two bowling points for taking eight wickets in second innings
▪ one bowling point for taking six wickets in second innings
Bonus points will be awarded irrespective of whether the losing side is bowled out.
18 Position of teams in the league table. Where two or more teams have the same number of points in the league table, they will be differentiated by the first of the following criteria that separates them:
i. the team with the most wins
ii. the team with the most bonus points
iii. the team with the most points in the games between them
iv. in the Premier Section only, the team with the most ‘four point’ bonus points
19 Captains’ and umpires’ reports. These will be required only in the Premier Section and Divisions 1 to 3. After all matches in which 25 overs or more have been bowled, captains and umpires must complete relevant online reports. These reports cannot be completed until the following day but must be completed within five days of the game. In circumstances where no report is required under this rule, ie, when less than 25 overs are played, either captain or umpire may complete a report if there is any issue they wish to draw to attention.
20 Penalties. Breaches of these rules may result in penalties being imposed in accordance with League Administrative Rule 13.
Covid restrictions
In addition to following the relevant YCSPL playing conditions and cup rules, clubs are expected to comply
with any relevant Government and ECB guidance in force when games are played.
Generic rules for all YCSPL Cup Competitions
I – Cup competitions
1. Governance. The following arrangements will apply:
• Viking Cup. The competition will be jointly owned and managed by Yorkshire Premier League North (YPLN) and the YCSPL (Premier Section cricket committee). Both leagues will nominate two people to form a cup committee that will decide on all matters relating to the interpretation of the rules and to matches played in the competition.
• Whitworth Cup. The competition will be managed by the Premier Section cricket committee.
• Mick Savage Trophy, Presidents Trophy and Billy Oates Cup. These competitions will be managed by the Senior Section cricket committee.
2. Playing conditions. All cup competitions will use the ECB Royal London Club Championship Regulations and the ECB Generic 40 Overs Playing Conditions. These can be found at http://www.ecb.co.uk/governance/regulations/non-first-class-regulations. Leg-side wides will not apply in the Presidents Trophy and the Billy Oates Cup.
3. Club entry. Entry to the Viking Cup, Whitworth Cup and Mick Savage Trophy is mandatory. Clubs may opt out of entry to the Presidents Trophy and Billy Oates Cup prior to the draw being made. Any club that does not opt out will be entered automatically. Only one team per club may compete in each competition. Where it is necessary to vary the competition into which clubs in Division 1 and below are entered, this will be at the discretion of the Senior Section Cricket Committee.
4. Fixtures. Games will normally be played on Sundays or Bank Holidays. Except in the final, games will start at 12.30hrs (Viking Cup only) and 13.30hrs. Scheduled dates for each round will be provided by the organising committee prior to the start of the competition. Except in the event of clashes with ECB National Club Championship, these dates shall be fixed and clubs will not be allowed to rearrange scheduled fixtures.
5. Where a match is not completed due to ground or weather conditions, clubs should endeavour to play the match on the reserve date, which will normally be the following Sunday. However, in exceptional circumstances,
the organising committee will allow the reserve date to be adjusted as long as the tie is completed at least seven days before the scheduled date for the next round. Any rearrangement must be authorised in writing by the organising committee.
6. Cancellations. When a game is cancelled before the scheduled start time, it will be the responsibility of the home team to contact umpires to let them know the game will not take place.
7. Balls. In the Viking Cup and Whitworth Cup, a pink Oxbridge Windsor ball will be used from each end, both of which will be new at the start of each innings. The ball used for the Mick Savage Trophy, President’s Trophy and Billy Oates Cup will be the red Readers Sovereign or League Special.
8. Clothing and equipment. Coloured clothing must be worn in the Viking Cup and Whitworth Cup, but equipment such as pads and batting gloves are not required to be colour co-ordinated. Sightscreens may be black or white. White clothing must be worn in the Mick Savage Trophy, Presidents Trophy and Billy Oates Cup.
9. DLS system. In the Viking Cup and Whitworth Cup, the DLS system will be used to produce a result where overs are reduced due to ground and weather conditions after the start.
II - T20 comptitions
1. YCSPL T20 competitions. Two T20 competitions will be run; the first, the T20 Blast, to feed into the national Vitality T20 competition, for which Premier Division teams only are eligible, and the second, the T20 Plate, which will feed into the Vitality National T20 plate competition, will be open to clubs in the Championship Division and the Senior Section.
2. Governance. The Cup competition will be the responsibility of the Premier Section Cricket Committee and the Plate competition will be the responsibility of the Senior Section Cricket Committee.
3. Playing conditions. The Cup competition will follow the rules of the ECB Vitality club T20 competition; and in the plate competition, the rules of the
ECB Vitality T20 Plate competition will apply in all Plate matches.
4. Club entry. Entry to the Cup competition is mandatory for Premier Division clubs; any club may enter a second XI team in the Plate competition if they wish.
5. Cup competition. The competitions manager will agree the format of the Cup competition for the coming season with the Premier Section cricket committee.
6. Plate competition. The plate competition will be played on a knock-out basis with games being played on Sundays. The competitions manager will schedule dates for each round to be completed The home-drawn club must offer the away club two dates upon which to play the match, including rearranged matches for bad weather. One of these dates must be accepted by the away club. If a game cannot be completed on a Sunday, it may be rearranged for midweek. Matches arranged for Sundays will start at 1.30pm and midweek matches at 6.00pm, unless varied by mutual agreement. The Senior Section head must be informed of the date and time of the match,
with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.
7. Forfeiture of ground advantage in the Plate competition due to unfitness of grounds. If more than 24 hours before the scheduled start of the match the home teams’ ground is unfit or unavailable, and the visitors’ ground will be fit and available, then the match will take place as scheduled but at the visitors ground. If the match cannot be completed that day, then ground advantage shall revert to the original home team on the date that the match is rescheduled to take place, but the provisions of this rule shall apply to the
rescheduled date.

III - General
1. Playing conditions. All matches in these competitions will be played in accordance with the Laws of the Game (2017 Code), the Spirit of Cricket and all current ECB directives, except where specifically stated in these rules.
2. Player eligibility. Players will only be eligible to play in the cup competitions if as bone fide registered members of their club they are eligible to play in the YCSPL. A player may only play for one club in any cup competition in a given season. Overseas players and contracted county staff are eligible to play in the competition, provided that they comply with the above.
3. Scoring. Clubs must provide a scorer for all matches. Where no scorer is provided, a player must be designated to undertake scoring duties and the side must play with a player short. Matches shall be scored where possible utilising electronic methods with live scoring, to promote the competition. Where electronic scoring is not possible, clubs should give regular score updates via social media.
4. Umpires. Umpires will be appointed for all matches by the Appointments Officer via ‘Who’s The Umpire’. Where umpires attend the ground, whether the match commences or not, they will be entitled to their full fees.
5. Match Results. It is the responsibility of the home side to enter details of the game on Play-Cricket. The result must be entered no later than midnight on the day the match is played, with the full scorecard being entered no later than midnight on the following evening. Where a match is cancelled or abandoned, clubs should not enter details onto Play-Cricket, as this prevents a revised date being entered for the match, but instead should email the competition secretary to confirm that the game did not take place.
6. Disputes. All issues in connection with the running of the competition will be decided by the relevant organising committee. In the event of any appeal against any decision of the committee, the grounds for appeal must be notified by email to the committee secretary within seven days of the notification of the decision in question. The secretary will arrange for an appeal to be heard by panel made up of three people with no connection with any club involved.
7. Finals. Costs of the finals for the cup and T20 competitions, including balls, teas and umpires, will be met by the League.
