Year 9 Texles About Year 9 Texles The conceptual focus of this course explores Sustainability and Design Cultures. With this in mind, students will develop their abilies to invesgate, design and make texles products. They will gain experience in safely and competently operang sewing equipment to produce quality products from upcycled materials and will experiment with several embellishment techniques to create new and interesng fabrics. This course follows on from year 8 but is accessible for new students. Design and Producon Journal Students will be required to maintain records of research, design and construcon tasks in a producon journal. This will also support their final reflecon and evaluaon on praccal units. All records should be accompanied by brief annotaons to explain the design intenons and the technical processes. This subject provides skills and experiences that may be of benefit during senior studies in year 10 Art, IBDP Visual Arts, VCE Studio Arts, VCE Visual Communication Design, and IBDP Studio Art. It is also of relevance for future study in areas such as fashion design, merchandising, marketing and retail, advertising, and interior and textiles design.
