Fathering Project - Archery Night

In the last week of Term 3, fathers and father figures got together to shoot some arrows at the PCYC. Thank you very much to Mr John Clark for teaching us about archery and overseeing the event.A big thanks to those that came. Keep your eyes and ears out for our Fathering Project Event in Term 4.

SpeakFestMany students from schools around the Gunnedah region came to show off their public speaking skills at SpeakFest 2019.GPS was very proud to host this event for the second year running. A huge thank you to the judges on the day: Mr John Clark, Mr Stewart Dowe, Mrs Meryl Hennessey, Mr Terry Curran, Mr Gary Humphries, Mr Jamie Brown, Mrs Ashlee Sheedy, Mrs Larni Christie, Miss Sally Harris and Mrs Kylie Short. Thank you also to Ray Williams, Jenny Hewitt and Kate Parker for providing lunch and staffing the canteen. A big thank you to the staff at Carroll Public School for their help setting the day up. Congratulations to Ruby Ruttley for receiving the Encouragement Award in the Stage 1 division.

Horse Wisdom Welcome BackWelcome back to all students, staff and parents to what is shaping up to be an exciting and busy Term 4. I hope everyone has had a safe and relaxing break and are rested and ready for Term 4.

SpeakFestCongratulations to all who participated in Speakfest at the end of last term. All students were prepared and gave their best, which was wonderful to see. A special congratulations to Ruby Ruttley who received an encouragement award for her efforts. I would like to also take this opportunity to thank Will Dowe and Carroll Public School staff for organising the event, which was extremely well run.

Change of detailsPlease ensure that any family details that may have changed over the break, phone numbers or addresses and any new health conditions, are updated through the office so we have the most current details for your child/children.

Swim SchoolSwim school notes went home yesterday for all Year 2, 3 and 4 students. Please ensure that your note is returned as soon as possible to ensure your child is able to participate in this program. All costs will be covered by the school.

Year 3-6 excursionsThe excursion note for the ZooSnooz for Years 3 & 4 will go home next week.The note for Coffs Harbour for Years 5 & 6, was sent home yesterday. Please ensure that you fill out the permission note, medical form and pay the deposit to ensure your child/children are able to attend.

Selective High School ApplicationsParents of students in Year 5 who are thinking about attending a Selective High School in 2021 are encouraged to lodge an online application. Please see the flyer in this newsletter.

The information is included in this newsletter about selective schools exams (i.e. FMHS) that will occur next year. There are certain actions that parents need to undertake to ensure their child does not miss out on this opportunity. We have also sent home a detailed note with every Year 5 student to ensure the information is available early to parents. Please don’t miss this information or opportunity.

For the final Horse Wisdom session, students built an obstacle course and were given the opportunity to invite the horses to walk through. They then used their inside, outside and middle awareness skills to build relationships and make connections with the horses.
