Christmas 2017
Dear Friends, The Christmas story is a story of God’s love for the world—Jesus Christ enters our lives in order to love us. It unfolds in a very unique way for each one of us. We discover its meaning and message by living the narrative in our own lives. It is a story of great joy, mystery, and profound humility.
I ponder the presence of St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus and husband of Mary the Mother of Jesus, in the Christmas story. His role is unique for he was a man of extraordinary faith, obedient to God’s will, upright, and just. He was devoted to Mary and Jesus. No words of St. Joseph are recorded in the Sacred Scripture’s and yet he was present and part of the mystery of God’s revelation of love to humanity. St. Joseph as a carpenter provided support for his family and cared for Mary and Jesus. St. Joseph was a man of great courage, patience, and wisdom who nurtured Jesus and guided him in his early years. What Mary and Joseph instilled in Jesus would help him to fulfill His mission for all humanity to know that ‘God is with us’. I pray that each one of us will ponder the Christmas message and experience the profound joy and love that Jesus came to bring as He assured us that ‘God is with us’. It is now our turn to live the Christmas message and share it with all those who we encounter!
With God’s Blessings,
Fr. Stanley
