Early years experts call for retained statutory status for EYFSP
Foundation years website4Children has responded to the consultation, noting how if
proposals to introduce a baseline assessment are to succeed they must:
•Use the baseline to build on existing two year old checks to truly inform early identification for the pupil premium
•Ensure that any baseline assessment is in sympathy with
a child starting school
•Balance between a baseline assessment and the profile of a child’s learning over time.

Summer-born children 'to get the right to start school later‘
Gov.uk website
Schools Minister Nick Gibb announced the government’s intention to give summer-born
children the right to start in reception at the age of 5
The minister said admissions rules must be changed so children born between 1st April and 31st August cannot be forced to go straight into year 1
if they wait to start school until they turn 5
A consultation will now be carried out and the reforms approved by Parliament
