State Government, especially improving the Human Development Index of the State.

The Human Development Index (HDI) - is a summary composite index that measures a country's average achievements in three basic aspects of human development: longevity, knowledge, and a decent standard of living. Longevity is measured by life expectancy at birth; knowledge is measured by a combination of the adult literacy rate and the combined primary, secondary, and tertiary gross enrolment ratio; and standard of living by GDP per capita.

Selection Procedure Selection as a fellow under the Chief Minister's Fellowship Program is based on

a combination of the following criteria: track record of remarkable professional achievement in the applicant's career

trait of leadership skills and the potential for further growth demonstrated commitment to social / public service skill set that highlights the ability to work effectively as part of the team strength of character, positive attitude and the ability to work with others An open system is designed to ensure the best candidates are able to show

their interest towards the program and they are selected on equal grounds. The selection process is based on invitation once preliminary information of interest by the applicant has been received through the website. In deserving cases the Government may also formally contact high achieving young people and prestigious organizations to invite applicants. This may include certain higher education institutions and professional associations who are urged to suggest prospective candidates. Once the preliminary information is received, candidates would be notified promptly via email of the receipt of the details submitted by them. Shortlisted candidates may be requested thereafter to complete another form which helps to collect further information on education, work experience, references, etc.

Final selection will be done after the short-listed candidates have gone through a comprehensive background investigation. Selected candidates may be either called for a personal interview or for an interview through video conference.

FAQ Which are the possible placement areas for the

selected fellows? The Fellows would be placed in certain departments

which could be Hon. Chief Minister's office, CS, any ACS, PS/Secretary of a department or a departmental head or a Collector. The concerned department would provide an office, GSWAN connectivity, a laptop and necessary travel arrangements, etc. would be taken care of

I do not have any accommodation facility available. If I'm selected, are there any provisions for accommodation from the Government of Gujarat? Fellows who cannot make arrangements for their stay

would be provided unfurnished accommodation where a flat/house would be shared by a number of Fellows.

FAQ

Is there any financial package associated with the program for the selected fellow's? Fellows, who require financial support, can be

assisted with some financial honorarium. Touring for official purpose would be covered under the program.

What will the Fellows not be entitled to? There are no benefits of leave/LTC and medical

reimbursement. Fellows who join the program are strongly advised to take medical insurance.

FAQ Will there be an interview in the

selection process? There may be an interview before final

selection which could even be held through video conference and Fellows may also be called for a personal interview.
