SMOS L2 Ocean Salinity
Smaller border width -> more retrievals

SMOS L2 Ocean Salinity
Smaller border width -> lower Sigma_SSSImpact is at edges of swath > ±300 km
No impact from belt/braces

Cross-track transect at 20N
Land impact?

SMOS L2 Ocean Salinity
At ~50S different border width changes number of measurements -> increased Stokes3 std/ra-> false RFI detection -> need to change RFI thresholds

Conclusions
• OTT may correct higher biases at borders, so data could be useful
• Border flag indicates decreased quality due to aliasing
• Impact of border flag width on L2OS in open ocean seen only at edges of swath
• Land near FOV may distort border flag TBs
• Maybe use width 0.015, as 0.01 sometimes misses edges of FOV?
• Need L1 radiometric analysis
