CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 145:1-3 I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
You’re Worthy of My Praise women echo: I will worship… with all of my heart… I will praise you… with all of my strength… I will seek you… all of my days… I will follow… all of your ways…
I will give you all my worship; I will give you all my praise. You alone I long to worship; You alone are worthy of my praise.
women echo: I will bow down… and hail you as king… I will serve you… I’ll give you everything… I will lift up… my eyes to your throne… And I will trust you… trust you alone…

OUR HISTORIC FAITH: HEIDELBERG CATECHISM, LORD’S DAY 28 Q75. How does the Lord's Supper remind you and assure you that you share in Christ's one sacrifice on the cross and in all his gifts? A. In this way: Christ has commanded me and all believers to eat this broken bread and to drink this cup. With this command he gave this promise: First, as surely as I see with my eyes the bread of the Lord broken for me and the cup given to me, so surely his body was offered and broken for me and his blood poured out for me on the cross. Second, as surely as I receive from the hand of the one who serves, and taste with my mouth the bread and cup of the Lord, given me as sure signs of Christ's body and blood, so surely he nourishes and refreshes my soul for eternal life with his crucified body and poured-out blood. Matt. 26:26-28; Mark 14:22-24; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-25
Q76. What does it mean to eat the crucified body of Christ and to drink his poured-out blood? A. It means to accept with a believing heart the entire suffering and death of Christ and by believing to receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life. But it means more. Through the Holy Spirit, who lives both in Christ and in us, we are united more and more to
Christ's blessed body. And so, although he is in heaven and we are on earth, we are flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone. And we forever live on and are governed by one Spirit, as members of our body are by one soul. John 6:35, 40, 50-54; John 6:55-56; 1 Cor. 12:13; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Cor. 11:26; Col. 3:1; 1 Cor. 6:15-17; Eph. 5:29-30; 1 John 4:13; John 6:56-58; 15:1-6; Eph. 4:15-16; 1 John 3:24
Q77. Where does Christ promise to nourish and refresh believers with his body and blood as surely as they eat this broken bread and drink this cup? A. In the institution of the Lord's Supper: "The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.' For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes." This promise is repeated by Paul in these words: "Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf." 1 Cor. 11:23-26; 1 Cor. 10:16-17
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT — Romans 8:1-2 (ESV) There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross Jesus, keep me near the cross; There a precious fountain, Free to all—a healing stream— Flows from Calv’ry’s mountain.
In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever; Till my raptured soul shall find Rest beyond the river.
Near the cross, a trembling soul, Love and mercy found me; There the Bright and Morning Star Shed its beams around me.
Chorus
Near the cross! O Lamb of God, Bring its scenes before me; Help me walk from day to day With its shadow o’er me.
Near the cross I’ll watch and wait, Hoping, trusting ever, Till I reach the golden strand Just beyond the river.
Chorus

CHILDREN’S MESSAGE
PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE
SCRIPTURE READING – Romans 5:12-21 (ESV) Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned— for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.
But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
SERMON Power to Live: Grace Abounding Pastor Randy Edwards
SCRIPTURE READING - 1 Corinthians 5:7b-8 (ESV) Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
THE WORDS OF INSTITUTION - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (ESV) For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.
THE LORD’S SUPPER
RESPONDING IN SONG
Behold the Lamb Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away Slain for us and we remember The promise made That all who come in faith Find forgiveness at the cross So we share in this Bread of Life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of peace Around the table of the King
The body of our Saviour Jesus Christ Torn for you eat and remember The wounds that heal The death that brings us life Paid the price to make us one So we share in this Bread of Life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of love Around the table of the King
The blood that cleanses every stain of sin Shed for you drink and remember He drained death's cup That all may enter in
To receive the life of God So we share in this Bread of Life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of grace Around the table of the King
And so with thankfulness and faith we rise To respond and to remember Our call to follow in the steps of Christ As His body here on earth As we share in His suffering We proclaim Christ will come again And we'll join in the feast of heaven Around the table of the King
And so with thankfulness and faith we rise To respond and to remember Our call to follow in the steps of Christ As His body here on earth *As we share in His suffering We proclaim Christ will come again And we'll join in the feast of heaven Around the table of the King

BENEDICTION -- Romans 16:25-27 (NIV) Now to him who is able to establish you by [the] gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him— to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Concerning the Lord’s Supper Today we receive the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Grace Kernersville PCA welcomes all Christians who both profess faith in Jesus Christ for their salvation and who are baptized members in good standing of congregations that proclaim the gospel to participate and receive the Lord’s Supper today. If you are unable to receive the Lord’s Supper today, please use this time as a time of reflection. If you have questions, please speak with an elder.
The elders will distribute the communion trays to each aisle. Congregants will pass trays down their row. The trays hold the sacrament elements in one, sealed package. Once all are served, we will receive the sacrament together.
