World Time Zones

• World has been divided into 24 time zones

• GMT or UTC is the beginning of the 24hrs

GMT (Greenwich mean time) : LT in Greenwich village in Great Britain which a is at 0 degree Longitude (meridian)

12 time zones are EAST of GMT(+)

12 time zones are WEST of GMT(-)

Calculation of time difference

1. Obtain the local timing of the compared cities2. Convert them to the GMT/UTC3. Obtain East (+) or West(-) timingsAnd if:A. Both cities are (+)i.e. ahead of GMT

Or both the cities or behind(-) of GMT,Deduct the small from the larger

B. If one is ahead(+) and the other is behind of GMT(-),Add both figure together

International Date Line(IDL)

• Crossing IDL from West to East:

Gain a Day• Crossing IDL from East to West:

Lose a Day

Jet Lag• The Fatigue and related symptoms,

experienced while taking long air journey and crossing multiple time zones.

• The internal clock of the body get confused when time zone changes quickly

• To overcome the Jet lag. Rest is required
